That being said, you can buy a ProClip mount that matches up to the airplane fixture: Heavy Duty Tilt Swivel | ProClip USA

And use whatever spring-loaded mount you wish, such as the RamTite: RAM Tab-Tite? Cradle for 10" Tablets Unpackaged - RAM-HOL-TAB6U | RAM Mounts
Have you seen anybody that actually brings their own mount?

Yes I have. Ipad inside a hard case, very protected. Spring-loaded holder like I mentioned. Works great. Mine is on order now.

Are other mounts approved? Given the FAA's need to control things...

I may be wrong, but I don't think other mounts are approved so hopefully guys aren't out there using different mounts, or hopefully they don't get caught.

Who said anything about being a rat? I'd hate to spend money on something that I might not be able to use.

Could have sworn there was a blurb in the FOM saying that the the efb MUST be mounted without case or cover.

Sorry for asking a question.

I'm just poking fun, I don't have time to run around telling on other people. I remember that too, because it wouldn't fit with the case. I don't think any other mounts are approved. You'd have to check the FOM. Hopefully as time goes on we can get approved for a different mount that can hold the iPad in its case. Maybe something like SWA has.

Right now the only mount approved is the one supplied by the company that is to be left in the airplane. If one of our FAA inspectors see you using your own mount they'd likely go bonkers.....
