I’ve heard the same. Florida is a hard commute no matter where you are but JAX is a good option from most accounts. Welcome aboard and ignore the doom and gloomers on this page they all came from expressjet and are easily startled when anything happens that isn’t all unicorns and rainbows.

I chose Endeavor and the 200 in hopes of flying more and getting to ATL as quick as possible, now it seems like that isn’t even on the horizon at this point. I have been happy with Endeavor so far, for the most part everything has been professional and squared away. However, the idea of commuting to NYC to sit reserve for the foreseeable future just to maybe eke out 20 hours a month, makes me think that I should look elsewhere, even if the pay and commuting policy isn’t as awesome as Endeavor.
Completely understandable. I'd finish up training, give it a few months, and if you aren'tsl seeing that return on investment you wanted then maybe explore other options. Either way, welcome and good luck.

Default For the love of God stop

Stop using the Expressjet people as an excuse for doom and gloom. Saying we are doom and gloom is the same as we saying you’re drinking too much coolaid. The fact is EDV is not the place to be right now and A LOT of people are complaining. No one is really flying and airport reserve, abused by crew scheduling, is terrible. Commuting to a crashpad is terrible. Over a year ago we were told growth and a big Atlanta base, NEITHER HAS HAPPENED! The training mess is getting worse and the contract violations are getting worse. These are facts. The truth is, no one knows what is going to happen. For those of us that have been there before, we know how this goes. For those of you that haven’t been there before, you should be prepared.

I would definetely go to Skywest or Envoy now. No one wants to go to a regional, especially in NYC, to just sit around and have to take extra, and JEOPARDY at that, checkrides, just to stay current.

Contract violations? What contract violations? Surely, you're filling out pilot issue forms if that's the case.

As for the ExpressJet guys, no, it's a legit reason. We had many guys come over from ZW, all assimilated into the 9E culture quickly. The ASA guys have done nothing of the sort, still wearing ASA lanyards/MEC cards and not a trip goes by without a former ExpressJet guy complaining about things were done there. Are all the former ASA/ExpressJet guys & gals bad, no, but there's a bunch that seem to be.

If ASA/ExpressJet is so great, I hear they're hiring...

Default Nonsense

Lots of contract violations. Yes on the forms. We have been here before and were given the same promises to come here since we had the experience they wanted. We did not want, nor expect, what we’ve actually been given. Do you really work for the same company???

You might try GNV or DAB.... there are a fair amount of Flights there that seam to work for an ATL commute. JAX and MCO work much better for a NYC commute.

This is a perfect example of why I use expressjet as a doom a gloom example. As of above, well what contract violations? Tell us exactly what happened. It seems each and every time someone on this forum calls an expressjet pilot to name something specific, y’all go and hide and use weasel words to cop without giving a real reason.

If this place stinks so bad, I’ve included links to envoys hiring page before. Go and find it and tell us how their QOL is now. But I’m sure you won’t respond to that.

You guys kill me when you tell people to go to Envoy because you have to sit reserve for a few months here. So far my worst day here is better than my best at Envoy. What do they have? Ask them how that flow is working out. It’s was 10 years when I was there in 2012 and now it’s down to 9 1/2. Ask your buddies that came from express jet who upgraded while in Indoc and went directly to ATL how there time at 9E is going. While some of us have been sitting in NYC for a year on RSV waiting for those ATL 200 spots to open. I agree it sucks here right now for the bottom half. But it will get better and it’s definitely better than Envoy.

I'm an Expressjet guy who was LUCKY enough to come to 9E and get insta-Captain in ATL, which is exactly what I wanted. There was only about a 3 month window where things worked out that way due to a perfect storm of many factors. The most important factor being that 9E FOs delayed taking left seat at the first opportunity.

My take is that if an ASA/XJT ATL CA came here after that window of opportunity closed and is now stuck commuting to a sheet-hole NYC crashpad as an FO and not flying, well then there's going to be some beeching and moaning. I do feel bad for anyone who came here based on my well advertised experience.

My experience here has been great. The reserve system here is far far better than what we had at the ASA side of XJT. That being said, I'm in Atlanta.

NYC is a completely different experience. The crew rooms are completely unbearable and inadequate. The co-domicile in NYC and transportation issues make sitting reserve difficult. The current-hopefully short term-stagnation has turned NYC into a very bitter pill for those stuck there. Don't get me wrong, I love NYC, but it's a terrible place to commute/crashpad to for anyone with a family somewhere else.

I would still strongly encourage anyone to come to 9E. The pay is good. The contract is decent. We are treated like adults. The company is trying to fix the training delay issues. And I believe growth will come for ATL in 2019.

The company can't fix the not-flying issues while simultaneously staffing for future growth. I get that.

I also heard all the same "promises" of growth and the size of the ATL base while in training. I tried to plug my ears, but I got a bit giddy too, and I am disappointed that it all hasn't come true, but I am still upbeat about 9E. However, I am well aware my positive attitude comes from being lucky enough to get the left seat and ATL.

Segway here:My biggest complaint about 9E is that the IT is behind the times. It makes my job more difficult than it was at ASA/XJT, but the company is constantly adding IT improvements. As a side note, I've talked to some of the ASA/XJT folks who went to majors and LCCs. Their take is that nobody has IT as good as what we had at ASA/XJT. So, IT was the only good thing about being owned by Skywest. The ONLY!

Care to elaborate, so that the rest of us can be on the look out? Or are you just spouting BS?
