I'm also curious about this. I work at a pretty good sized 141 outfit and several of us are starting the process of interviewing at various regionals. We had one guy from here interview at Endeavor recently and he got the impression that all the new hires this summer will be going to NYC and as a result he opted to go to a different carrier. I could care less what equipment I fly but I definitely want to avoid New York at all costs, because of the cost of living there. There's 3 or 4 more of us still planning to interview there but I can comfortably predict that at least 2 that are now leaning towards 9E will go elsewhere if they think they'll get stuck in NYC, as they plan to commute from the midwest.

trust me you can get DTW first pick, you'd be surprised there's a lot of east coasters at least on the FO side that want NY. Latest Mock snap shows January hires holding lines...... aka they've done 1 month of reserve.... nobody believes me when I talk about upgrade time about to drop off the cliff and I believe it has started with this last vacancy.. 85 upgrades not to mention the guys and gals that just upgraded on the last one who will be leaving to Delta here in the next 6 months. The ones that upgraded did it for the pay and the ones that are holding out are doing it for the QOL. don't base your decision in fear of being in NYC. if it were to happen you can bid out before you're even out of sim

I don't know the exact number, but there are not that many 200's heading to New York. Some of that flying will also be covered by DTW and MSP. So for this vacancy there are 40 FO's between both New York bases. That's only 1 1/2 classes if they were going to be all from new hire FO's. I would say that at least half will come from pilots already on property. Plus there will still be attrition from the other bases. Long winded answer, but I don't think they're going to put everybody in New York. I wish you the best of luck wherever you decide to go

Thanks for the reply. Even if it means a stint in NYC I'm thinking Endeavor is the way to go for me at least. I'm in my early 30s so I hopefully won't be at the very bottom of the class seniority either which may help land a spot in DTW or MSP.

The latest vacancy had 70 FO openings, every single one in NY. I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibility that people will have to spend at least one or two vacancies (3-6 months) in NY.

I see that now. Forgot about the 900's. In any case, movement should be fast if someone wants another base

What is commuting like on reserve at Endeavor? Do you usually have to commute in the night before your first reserve day and same for the last day. I am very interested in Endeavor and trying to weigh the negatives of commuting especially on reserve.

Depends on your commute. You need two flights that get you in by your start time plus call out time. For P2, you start at 10am and DTW has a 1:45 call out so I have to have two flights that land by 1145am to cover myself with call in honest. If you get the morning shift, yes you'll have to come in night before. The good thing is that you're released early on your last day of reserve, so most of the time you can catch a flight home on the last day. My airport has a 6am out and a 10pm home so I'm pretty good for same day commuting. If your in a hub or smaller airport with only 1 or 2 flights then it could get rough but still doable.

I'm wondering what upgrade will be down the line. Me and other R-ATP guys might end up having to bypass due to being short of the 2500 if it goes at this rate.
