5 Express Jet in my class, before HVA came out. I’m not sure I would take the hit for the money....but there’s plenty that think it’s worth it.

Not to mention with every person who jumps ship and comes here puts us a step back in regards to ALL pilots on property getting compensated what their worth in regards to pilot pay.

The bonus is nice and all, but with a near decade flow and knowing EDV is making 20+ an hour MORE than you that adds up over the years.

Plus being stuck on reserve, plus even if you became captain FO's already on property are going to leapfrog above you once they upgrade, mixed with a crap reserve system, you sure you want to ride that train?

Stop being so short sighted people. I'll never stop someone from coming here, but do your homework.

To put things in perspective regarding FO’s leapfrogging street captains. I finished IOE early March 2017. All my iligible 1000 hours needed for upgrade have been flown with Envoy, I will have the hours required for upgrade this next vacancy bid at the end of March. I have been flying a lot of OT.

So even if half the FO’s of my era have been flying only their awarded line and nothing more, then they will probably be awarded CA the following bid and so forth. So the next two bids we will see all the mid-late 2016 new hires upgrading, and there will be a steady stream going forward. Sure some have bid reserve and avoided flying, but for FO’s that bid a line and only fly a line they will start meeting the hours in the next 3-4 months. Anyone flying OT then this bid or the next.

The above assumes that the FO’s require the entire 1000 hours, in reality a good percentage had some 121 hours from elsewhere or other iligible flight time for upgrade.

I’m not saying don’t come to Envoy by any means (in fact it’s in my interest to have more guys below me on the seniority list), but at least know what you’re walking into and make an educated choice based on real numbers.

only problem with that statement is what are the real numbers. You wont get them on this forum.

but your point remains valid know what you're walking into and base it on the best information available.

fact is that a majority of the FOs that will qualify 1000 hours WILL be upgrading whether they like it or not, this year. whether thats 300 FOs, or 800 FOs remains to be known for sure... but either way, as an HVA hired today, they all stack on top of you the minute they go left seat.

Sure, you might get your preferred base after a couple of months, but it only takes a dozen guys "leapfrogging" you with their upgrade and guess what? You are displaced from base potentially. then you start over, get your preferred base after a couple of more months (maybe) but even still... you are on sitting ready the whole time, some of that time with a possible two leg commute half way across the country.

The question Envoy management has to ask itself is why would an HVA go to Envoy over Endeavor or Mesa etc. If "because Envoy has a flow to AA" is their answer... well... they lack vision. Most of your HVAs are probably not career Envoy pilots... i imagine most of them who do sign on the dotted line are going to get as much 121 PIC time as they can get in a year or two and bolt to a major

EDIT: envoy needs to be heavily recruiting prior part 121 guys who live in or around NY and ORD - those are the ones who this deal would work best for i think

I would argue that pilots that are currently on property stand to gain more if Envoy CANNOT fill classes. Sure, more people on the seniority list before you is good. But as long as people flood the doors for the new hire bonus etc, the less leverage we have in any negotiation to get us back to industry leading pay and QOL. That was evident in the recent email sent by the union. Just my opinion. Not breaking any real news here.

Quote: Here is my response for you and any one else startled at other pilots willing to take the 45k insta cap. and perma reserve in LGA.

At my current company I am a line holder FO with an ok QOL. Current 10+ year captains here still commuting to reserve with little movement off the top. I will see upgrade years from now most likely 2-3 years and would then be commuting to reserve for the foreseeable future , if things don’t improve. No progression to a major, a descent contract, but contracts don’t pay my bills.

Envoy flashes 45k and upgrades at me. I don’t loose much, my QOL would be the same here when I upgrade in 2 years. Sure I’m going to have to commute to reserve at Envoy and be in the lovely NYC or ORD for a while, still would be paying for the same situation here.

If I get a “real” flow to fall back on, 45k and double my current hr rate to go sit reserve for a year. It’s very tempting and I am still contemplating it.
Why not go to Endeavor? Also instant captain in NY but making way more.

I may do that, from the DFW area though. Would like to eventually end up there.
