Some people pursue QOL over the quickest path to the left seat, especially during these forced upgrade days.

Kind of a silly question if you would taken more than a second to think about it. I don't believe anyone said anything about dropping all flying, but there are instances when it would be very nice to drop a turn for say commuter reasons, doctor appointment, family gathering, tired, not feeling well, kids need picked up from school early, kids have a half day, birthday, anniversary, funeral, wake etc.

There are so many reasons to justify the occasional drop its silly to even keep listing them. To those that dont fly much, sorry, but that doesn't mean there are not valid reasons for people to drop trips.

People saying not to come here, well that is because its going to be the only way to get better pay.

The guy is either young and single or old and has forgotten the many challenges of having a family.

Travel question:

If one's desired destination requires flying on a partner airline via a connection, ala DFW to Dubrovnik or some such combination, are we able to list D2/D1 for those, or is that verboten?

Gracias.

Is the consensus that forced upgrades will be here for the foreseeable future, or is there a possibility in the next several bids tons of guys from the hiring boom will be reaching 950hrs and upgrade will be competitive?

The last four bids have had at least 110 vacancies. While there were large numbers of people hired in the past two and a half or so years, I don’t know if the number of people who are eligible as first time captains will still exceed that number when you consider attrition as FO and DECs. Likely the only real competition will be for DFW 175 and there was one on the last bid that was displaced into DCL. Remember that if you preference, you lose out on the displacement seat lock override of 5 extra hours for 24 months. A displacement is your last chance to squeeze a few more dollars out of our sub par contract.

My thoughts are have your displacement what you want with emphasis on the equipment first. OCE and OCL should both likely be available. After you get the equipment you want with a displacement, accept the training lock and then preference WHERE you want on the next bid.

Pass classes, such as D1/2, are only applicable to AA/Eagle flying. The connection to a destination not served by AA is typically handled by a ZED. Those segments are cleared by the partner airline IAW their policies, but in a general sense ZED riders are cleared after all employees, etc. You’ll get top of the ZED stack on Oneworld carriers. All of this is explained in the “A to Z of ZED” and the Travel Guide, both of which are on Jetnet.

One valuable thing to remember is that, per the Travel Guide, FROM other airlines (doesn’t matter if it is a revenue ticket or ZED) makes you eligible to add a T to your D1/2/3. You’ll need to show an AA agent your boarding pass from that first segment, and it will reset your check in time to whichever time you’ve managed to add the T, but this can give you a valuable edge trying to get back Stateside.

Off displacement how long before you’re in training?

Also how to delay training?

1-3 months.

There’s no real way to delay training without doing anything frowned upon.
