If you want them to drop entire trips touching you needed to have selected yes to Drop Trip.
You also have 24 hours after bids are awarded to contact crew scheduling and change the selection.
I guess you should put this one down to learning experience.

Keep trying as people trade out other trips the staffing grid changes and you may be able to trade it a few hours later if the trip is still available

Yeah believe it or not, at least OCL, most of the more senior pilots are commuters, hence making that line a dud. In addition, while its nice to be home every night you don't actually get done flying until around 6pm, then you factor in the drive home. Reverse that the next day and it turns out to be lots of driving and running around.
Not to say they are not good, but they certainly are for the right people only. Lastly, harder to pick up OT as they credit like 88 hours or something.

The 6 lines I mentioned in FO side went to FO seniority 1-6.

Not to mention I feel it is kind of a dick move to take a day trip line as a commuter given that it is a golden line for someone living in base. Anyway, to each their own I guess.

What blew my mind was that some of the people who picked up the lines in ORD that were 18 days off are commuters. Makes no sense to me. Enjoy buying 9 hotel rooms and giving up 4-5 days of the time off for travel.

There’s no such thing as a dick move for picking a line which your seniority holds. I like 4 day trips that start late and end before 1700 and I live in base. I have had someone say something about my choice before but I’m not going to wake up at 0400 for a 0630 start when my seniority can hold differently. Welcome to seniority bidding. We all know the game, don’t get upset over it. I’ve suffered the crap lines when I was junior, guess what so can you. But you are absolutely right about that line choice for a commuter though, it is going to suck and I am willing to bet they just looked at number of days off.
Lastly, I said to each their own, agreeing that this is the system we work in. I AM however allowed to have an opinion, and that opinion is this was a dick move.
