Other than reserves... yes, they can. Like I said, I’m not an AA fan boy but if 4/5 year guys over there have the option to upgrade or fly Europe/Asia on the 777/787 it’s news to me. Just want guys to get the facts straight. If you’re enamored with spirit and frontier... I’d suggest working there. It really makes no difference to me.

No 777's but yes, they have very quick upgrades.

They do have quick upgrades. 100% fleet growth will do that. Frontier also has the same XLR airbus's coming that AA does, with even stronger international partners. I expect them to fly across the pond much like JetBlue will too.

The facts are straight; AA's contract, QOL, financial situation and management is worse than two ultra low cost carriers.

Are you going to vote with your feet, or are you just floating this?

I do share most of your opinions, but I see a lot of trash talk on here with no follow through.

My apps are out, Trying to round out my TPIC before bailing.

PanAm and Eastern pilots thought Southwest was ridiculous in the 70's. The world turns and fortunes burn.

Sure you are an AA fanboy. You have spent the better part of this week telling these guys it's not a good idea to go to a LCC like Spirit all while talking up AA. If you say you are being objective, it's glaringly obvious that you aren't.

Don't let some of these guys here discourage you. Going LCC is a good strategy. I left for Allegiant a few years back and took a beating on here from all the AA fanboys saying how stupid of a move it was. I happened to live in an Allegiant base city and I got hired when they were at 1.5 years or less for upgrade. Got my upgrade in the Bus and today I'm at Delta. Actually, I had no problem with staying at Allegiant for a career and would have been happy to do so. I interviewed at Delta thinking I wasn't going to get the job anyway as I was pretty happy.

Envoy would love for you to stick around in perpetuity waiting with those golden handcuffs for the magical flow. Even if you got lucky and maybe flowed in 7.5 years or so, think of how many off the street hires and flows would be above you. Giving up thousands of numbers in seniority in a seniority based business isn't a good long term strategy. The pickings are ripe today. Everyone is hiring in droves. Don't wait to round out the TPIC. Just get the apps out and start the job fair circuit now. You may find yourself hired before you round out the PIC.

And Spirit is a great place to be right now as far as I'm concerned. They don't have widebodies but they have great financials and confirmed orders for 300 total planes on property with 50 additional options. They are about 140 on the fleet at present. Take a look at the debt ratio post here. AA might think they are too big to fail but so did Pan Am, TWA and Eastern.

No widebody, but if I can be a CA as a line holder on a NB and sit 40% overall at AA before the 5 year mark, that’s news to me too.

Spirit and Frontier are great places to be right now. The reason I posted is I had an envoy jump seater (young kid) that told us an envoy ca said AA was about to furlough. I just wanted to get some facts out. I have received a few messages from guys that really do want the facts. If a LCC is right for you...make the jump. AA does need to get its finances in order. There are reasons for our debt. We have a brand new fleet, debt is cheap and Parker thinks it’s a good time to rack up the debt where UAL/DL (who will he renewing their older fleets) might have to do it when the rates become more costly. Is it the right decision? Who knows. People love to bash AA right now. UAL was the punching bag before that and Delta was the laughing stock before them. When I was flying RJ’s SWA was the place to be and impossible to get hired. Check out the swa section on here. Guys are bailing. I think AA is a tremendous career. I’m able to hold a line on a 787/777 after being here about 6 years(and trending down). I personally thing that’s a great deal. I also think a lot of you (albeit all the *****ing) will end up here and have great careers.

Tides change. Times are good. Get the facts, make the right decision for you and your family.
