Yeah what you need is someone to come in every few years, make some tough talk speeches and outsmart the company - that works
Forget about using ALPA with decades of experience and dozens of contracts they administer - what could they possibly do for you.
Mgmt is negotiating to have the same or less than the labor groups at other properties.
They want something that does not put them at a competitive disadvantage
No one comes in and dazzles them with BS
If you had any first hand experience you would know that but since you’re a pilot you’re entitled to opine on every subject under the sun because your gut is so reliable.

You know so much, tell us everything.

What is proposed is a lead negotiating team that speaks and negotiates on behalf of the MEC. Historically this management 'team' targets whatever pilot is telling them bad news they don't want to hear. It has reached the point that the union is afraid of telling them "no" out of fear of being targeted.

Additionally, the company hires outside consultants to do exactly that, negotiate with the pilot group. Why shouldn't we do the exact same thing? Would you trust you ALPA rep to go against a professional attorney in a court room? I wouldn't.

Fear of being targeted?

Bull S.

The union has a negotiation team. Their task is to tell the company what the MEC tells them. They then bring back the company's comments and the MEC discusses them and makes decisions.
If you think the negotiations are like an episode of Law & Order, you are wrong.
It's not the negotiation team and the talent within the MEC that causes the disadvantage, it's the RLA. The playing field is not level.
