You pick a regional based on location, movement, pay, and QOL. Career progression will come no matter where you work during the good times, you do not need flow.

How is it horrible advice to have flow as a backup plan? You’re at a regional airline, it’s meant to be a stepping stone not a long term flying job.

Even more. IDK the details of the scope, but it’s not just total airframes. It’s types(size) of those airframes. There is a percentage of larger RJs, and I thought AAG was pretty close to having as many large RJs as they could in the regional fleet. I think there was relief due to the 737MAX delay and I think (and hope for us, at least for the time being) that those numbers of RJs is based on narrow bodies and not wide bodies or total mainline planes.

But bottom line, there is a limit to number of RJs and number of large RJs. Parking every -200 and 140 and even 145 won’t give more 175s.

How is that backup plan working now?

Stepping stone? well a lot of people are going to be stuck at their "stepping stone" job for a decade or more longer than they thought.

With JUST the Max delivery delay, the regional fleet of 76 seaters needed to shrink as well as a very small portion of the 50 seat fleet. Now? Bigger shrink.

What is the point you are trying to make? How dare pilots who want to go to AA go to a regional that has a direct career path for them based on seniority?

With Mesa’s contract expiring this is kind of expected. However: ExpressJet. Prime example of logic and reasonableness not being applicable in this industry. In this environment cash is king and the whipsaw will be active and cheap may win.

My point was made in my two previous posts to that one. Not trying to start an argument here, just directly answering the post I was responding to.

Oh, thanks! I forgot about that one too. If one has tunnel vision for AA and is non-military, then flow was more than a back up. You're right about that.

Us AAG WO's need to pressure ALPA to stop giving SkyWest (a non-union entity) flying and bring all Eagle flying back to AAG WO's!
