I agree the long term plan was to shrink the 145 fleet, but not sure how much more very soon. That would mean either shrinking Envoy even more or buying more 170s. And I do mean 170s, not 175s. With AAG selling the last six new ones to Republic and Skywest flying another 25, I don’t know how many more large RJs, if any they can add. There aren’t that many 170s out there and AAG just isn’t in the new plane buying mode.

Except those senior to them will PDIS over them and go to the heavy leaving them cadets to suffer longer on the 145. It’s a beautiful system.

Just wanted to quote this to bring it onto the next page, incase someone's breathing deep on that hopium lmao

tbh if you can't fly the 145 you have no business being an airline pilot anyway, it's not that hard

I no longer fly the type but when I sense weakness I compulsively hit the v/s button, even if im pilot monitoring and regardless of what's going on

really me and every other pilot at ENY sees these cadets got too spoiled and entitled thinking they will get whatever they want. People used to make $12 an hour to handfly a Jetstream for 8 hours a day. Get over yourselves. You’ll be lucky to have a job. Look at it that way and you’ll be happier. This industry is rough

For what it's worth it was the new generation of pilots saying no to pay and quality of life like that that led to the regionals not being able to fill classes which forced them to increase pay and QOL.

Airlines should have to compete with each other to fill classes, that's what is best for all pilots.

Exactly, we won't gain anything if everyone keeps working for pennies. A great example is Breeze, I'll be amazed if they can actually staff that place with the current pay rates and requirements.

i'm sure many are accepting jobs there thinking exactly that, but there can only be so many free riders hoping the market forces their wages up after the fact, before the airline is minimally staffed

Idiotic thinking like this is why regionals even exist at all.

We have thousands of pilots on the street with the recent shutdowns, Breeze took advantage of it. You also have the crowd who looks at Breeze as an opportunity to gain a high seniority number by sacrificing their pay now. It’s a huge bet that could pay off nicely. But yes, the current pay rate is terrible.
