I think we've only parked one airplane due to staffing issues so far. There were a couple airplanes parked earlier this year but I think those were due to scope. So three airplanes total this year if I remember correctly and two of those had to be parked anyway. Nothing like the "55-20 by the end of the year" so far. Doesn't seem like that would be enough to kill CC to me.

Staying competitive

Is there any talk of Envoy offering 121 longevity credit?

Haven’t heard of any. There are however some bonuses that will still help you make up some of that money. That being said, they are close to hiring DECs and if you have the time to upgrade already, you will likely be able to do so by the time you finish training, as long as you want to sit reserve as the junior captain out of ORD on a 145.

Has there been an update on the DEC program, didn't they just announce standing vacancy which would allow them to hire DECs?

They did just announce the standing vacancy, but nothing about DECs specifically on the recruiting page, just the bonuses I already mentioned. And in typical Envoy fashion, other than the extra $7.5K for an Embraer type rating, there is no breakdown on how or for what the bonus breaks out.

A couple of guys I talked to said they were hired as DECs, but allowed to go through initial as FOs with the intent of giving them some adjustment time to plane and company before a QU, but then Covid happened and we all know where things went from there. And in fact, they got the DEC bonus and left before this most recent bid when the could have actually held captain again.

Bottom line, the door is open for DECs again but no details what that will look like yet, other than like I said, sitting eternal reserve in ORD on a 145.

With the fleet dying a slow inevitable death, I can't think of much worse than being the plug for years, only to be displaced as the plug on another fleet.

Also, I don't think there really are many sources for DECs. Only place I can think of is Cape Air. Other regionals have flows now, including places that hire DECs. And if you are qualified for a DEC position, you are qualified for legacies/ACMI/LCCs, so that would make no sense.

There aren’t many DECs out there and Envoy is competing with other regionals also hiring DECs. It’s a pointless program at this juncture in the industry.

Agreed. Only real source of DECs is likely someone who has been out for a while and not current. The few that live in an Envoy base, but I still maintain that MIA is at risk if Envoy loses a third of its flying. If you are at ENY for MIA it might get painful.
