Am I seeing this right, these guys with 121 time making lateral moves because of the new temporary pay. The way I look at it by the time they apply, interview go through training etc.. once they go on reserve they will be on reserve for a while (not really being able to take advantage of the rates and a subpar QOL) once they actually get a line by then these new rates will likely expire. Then what? Start over again at another regional that has actually made these changes permanent or leave for legacy, which is totally doable right now with a fairly clean record. am I missing something.
There are regionals that haven’t been upgrading people believe it or not. Or airlines where they have not enough time to upgrade. An fo at said airline can make the lateral move as an fo AND GET CAPTAIN PAY and sure be on reserve but they were likely already on reserve so why not quadruple your pay while you wait. Legacies still prefer TPIC time.

AA cancelled classes? Sorry, haven't been keeping up with news over the last couple weeks.

Word is AA canceling some classes in November and all classes in December. December has traditionally been a slow/no hire month at AA. New hires are waiting up to three months for classes so this is a chance for them to catch up. All the airlines had a very aggressive/unrealistic hiring and training plan that just can’t be done.

While the pay increase was nice and it really seemed like lines and things overall were improving, looking at the lines for next month it feels like QOL is about to take a nose dive. That combined with slower movement due to slower flow, kind of a good recipe for another spike in attrition. Time will tell.

The decreased flow and AA choosing to cancel classes instead of just decrease numbers is definitely not a blip. That’s going to hurt and likely push more people off the edge.

November has traditionally been a slower month. Thanksgiving always has some funky changes to the schedule that tends to decrease line efficiency. Hopefully that is all that’s driving the lousy lines for November and this is more of a blip than a trend. As you said, time will tell.

The bolded part is super annoying. Just slowing hiring to a point that training can manage makes sense but not hiring for a month helps regional staffing. It's a clear 'slow the flow' maneuver. I don't think they'll do it this time but there's been times in the past where they have no new hires one month and then double the next month, the result is half the flows that would have gone for the same number of hires.
