Default Skipping the Flow?

Just wondering if anyone that’s due to flow in the next few months will forgo or wait a few months to make that decision?

Asked a different way: Is the money worth it to stay at envoy vs losing a few months of seniority at AA?

No. Seniority is everything.

Believe it or not, there are a couple of guys delaying flow for money. Seniority is everything, especially at 150-200 numbers a month, but that's their decision.

"Seniority is everything"

Some people like money. If a senior check airman who can hold a schedule that allows for lots of OT stays as long as they're doing 300%, that makes perfect sense to me. Not everyone wants to retire at 65 as a burden to their (probably digital, work-from-home) FO's. There's something to be said for making 3/4 mil. in a year earlyish in your career.

I get that seniority is everything and agree, but how do you come up with 150-200 per month? Is AA hiring 200 per month?

It all depends on one’s age. If you have less than about 10 years to fly, you will have to chase the junior widebody or captain, along with a commute when they are in their early sixties to see as much as you would be making now. Not everyone wants to do that Also no guarantee that you’ll still have your medical. Pulling in $200K, or even $150 for an extra year and having that in the bank NOW is just that. Money in the bank. One in the hand beats two in the bush.

There have to be pilots at Envoy (just like every other regional) that have decided to stay put, money or not, because personal circumstances and where they ended up on the seniority list have made it where the loss of QOL from starting over again, even at a major, wouldn't be worth it for them.

It may make more sense stated this way. Giving up the seniority you have one place isn’t always worth the seniority you get somewhere else, for all the aforementioned reasons.

So I guess you CAN still say seniority is everything.
