The million dollar question is how many of those 600 pilots would be picked out of experienced first officers? Apparently some cadet instructors have already received notifications for a January class date.

I’m wondering the same. I believe those cadets got January 13th as their start date. If I had to guess they might start peppering in non-cadets soon since most of the cadets that have already been placed hit mins right around the time the music stopped

What's the latest on DEC hiring? Is that still happening?

Well, I got a CJO in April for DEC with a June 6 class date and I still haven't started so.........

The rumor in the Envoy pilot group is that DEC hiring is dead. We have lots of FOs with the hours to upgrade now that can be force upgraded if the company needs to. We haven't had forced upgrades since last January and we haven't had any upgrade awards since July. We're finally running another vacancy bid the first week of January. We've been offering both captains and FOs time off without pay since September. The good thing is pilots are flowing to American again in January and we plan to hire 600 pilots next year.

You can put your app in and see what happens, but you will likely be in line behind 6 months of backlog on cadets and off the street hires. We seem to be prioritizing the cadets for now.

Thanks for the info Raven. I was offered a position last year but kept putting it off for various reasons. Was thinking about giving it another shot.

Bro, I sincerely hope that you are wrong because my CJO expires in April! I passed CRB in April and heard absolutely nothing since my June orientation had been cancelled. Do you seriously think that we the street FO's would hear anything soon considering overall situation?

For anyone else who panicked when they saw that about CJO expiration, I contacted Envoy today about it. My CJO was April 4th and said one year expiration. Their response was:
"If you haven’t been placed in a class by April 4th of 2025, we will review your employment file. An evaluation will be done on a case-by-case basis. This will take place after we have you update the paperwork needed at that time."

So, I wouldn't say that one year post CJO is definitively the end of the line, but case by case basis could mean almost anything for them who knows what their criteria will be. The good news is that it costs them basically nothing to keep us hanging like this so I can't see a great reason for them to cut people off provided they're still current in hours and such.

When I emailed them before you did, the answer was straightforward and no ifs or buts were included. Thank you very much for the update. It is good news for all of us with CJOs especially for those who are approaching 1 year mark.

Have any cadets waiting heard any rumours or been assigned a class date for January 27th or beyond?

they called cadets for January 27th two days before Christmas. Seemed like cadets who hit mins over the summer. Several of them are in CTP this week.
