Quick question: does anyone know what's fueling Envoy to hire 600 pilots? I understand that most of it is the flow to American, so what's fueling that flow on American's side? Is it retirements, growth...? Delta/United announced yesterday that they will cut some of their summer flying for various reasons. If American decides to do the same, how will that affect the flow and subsequent hiring/classes at Envoy?
Granted, Delta/United CEOs said they felt confident that Q1's performance and consumer confidence are temporary and are not omens of what is coming, but still raises some concerns about slowdowns across the industry.

When airlines reduce capacity by cutting a segment here and there that might result in an extra day off for a few pilots but nothing serious. Furloughs happen when airplanes get parked (long term storage). Demand is softening but only time will tell how much. If the big 3 start retiring aircraft in excess of new deliveries then you can anticipate a serious slowdown and possible furloughs. We're a long way from that for now.
American has ~800 retirements in 2025 and currently plans to hire 1,700. I doubt they will hit that number but Envoy will lose pilots to flow and to United and Delta. They are also getting more aircraft so there is growth and attrition the best case scenario for hiring and seniority progression.
Will they actually hire 600? We'll know at the end of the year. As with any airline if you are targeting Envoy, try to be early in the wave rather than later.

Recent rumors from my friends in PSA is that American is going to pause hiring in June. They said there is a chance that American will only pause OTS hires, so the flows from Piedmont, PSA, and Envoy won't be affected. However, this isn't confirmed. Can anyone add to this?

I hear Envoy is receiving 14 new aircraft this year and is expanding Chicago flying since Air Wisconsin lost their contract. I'm sure Envoy is projecting hiring to replace pilots due to external attrition as well.
I have heard that AA tends to have no training for a month in the summer and a month in the winter specifically to reduce the amount of pilots flowing from it's regionals. AA is required to flow a certain number of pilots each month they have new hire training classes. If they onboard more off the street pilots during the months they are training then pause for a month they don't lose as many total pilots from their wholly owned regional airlines.
