Hint, it didn't in 1991 either. In fact, it looked much more like shutdown.

I was at an Eagle carrier in '91 and interacted with several of the others. I don't recall consolidation or shutdown questions at that point. The whipsaw pot started boiling in about '93 and was spilling all over the fire by '94 where it was solved by the 1997 16-year "no whipsaw" CBA.

Pedro is pretty desperate now. If his job flops, so does that house he just bought. Given that though, anything he'd try to sell to Parker would HAVE to have something he could spin as a "good deal" and that means either several small concessions or one major one would have to be found somewhere in whatever was floated to brewmeister.

1991 was the year we (APA) voted in a B-scale for a tad over 11% raises. It was also the year that many "Eagles" were merged into 4. What you are describing, the merger of the 4, came later.

They wanted seniority and longevity reduced from 1987 to 1991, and scared many away in the process with shutdown fears. In the end it was consolidation of at least 7 Eagles that I can remember into the 4 Eagles you are referencing.

refresh any memories yet?

I don't see how consolidating other regionals into Eagle could possibly be a good thing for any of us here. It would just bring more stagnation diluting our already sloooow moving top heavy seniority list.. and it would screw up the flow through even more with incoming outsiders thinking they now can cut in line and deserve a piece.

All of a sudden I would have some Peidmont or RAH pilots thinking they are gonna flow before me. With all our time invested here already.. I don't think so.

Really want asprin? Think back to who was around back then.

Parker and Garton. This ancient history is why Garton got the ax. Back then Garton beat out Parker for a better AA job they both wanted.
Dumping Garton this past December was pure payback.
That is the type of person you are negotiating with when dealing with Parker.
