Long story short, if your planes had ACARS times would automatically transmit and there would be no need for in range calls or time reports. End of story.
So whatever it is Mesa has, it's not a proper ACARS. Especially when you guys can make up whatever out/in time you need to show on time departures and arrivals. |

Mesa aircraft have ACARS but doesn't have a printer. Thus the need to call for clearance, etc.

Sky,
What is so f'ing hard to understand here? To be honest, you sound like someone that is not even an airline pilot. Are you having fun playing flight simulator on your sweet setup in the garage? Do you not understand that airlines use different services? Here is the thing, Mesa HAS ACARS that reports OOOI times in their airplanes. There are NO magic IN/OUT numbers being called in. They DO NOT currently have the ability to receive PDC, ATIS, or IN RANGE (thus the need to call for a gate, clearance and listen to the ridiculously long ATIS). Try getting a clearance in IAD sometime, numerous airlines are calling nonstop. I don't know if you work for envoy. If so, then you have everything in your little Universal FMS magic box. It is absolutely crazy that other regional airlines do not have the wonderful features envoy has. Sorry to ruin you conspiracy theory against the Devil's airline. Oh and by the way, this is not new to DFW. Ok....let's take a little look back at the history of the illustrious "B" terminal in DFW. A little over two years should do it...around Valentines day 2013. A little company called Expressjet moved 11 CRJ 200s into the Eagle's nest, so to say. Maintenance was a huge issues initially, I believe they did not even have a spare aircraft in the beginning. They had the same issues that Mesa is facing. There were tons of delayed or cancelled flights. Everyone complained about how horrible the operation was, even the outstations. Envoy was going to get that flying back....over two years later, it looks like they righted their ship. Oh well, keep letting Mesa get under your skin. Try to get some sleep. |
Out of curiosity, what triggers your out time at Mesa? My understanding is that some ACARS trigger upon door closure. For us it is wheel movement. Which is why we ask for 10 and hold.

Mesa is growing too fast for the amount of pilots out there. Look at RAH imploding now after several RFP awards, they where growing slowly compared to Mesa. It's just a matter of time. Once the fast upgrade illusion is gone at Mesa, it will happen the same its happening to RAH. PSA is in another though spot with a huge training bubble, can't keep up with the growing. |

The difference between Mesa and Xjet is that they awarded MESA flying to Envoy in the summer. We only covered some flights for Xjet, no as much as we are covering for Mesa.

In the US Airways system, we had in-range with Acars, only thing we never had was ATIS and PDC over ACARS. Puzzles me why during this merger, they dumped the way Airways did things, and went with a more antiquated system that American uses? Well, I guess the larger pilot group always wins out... |
