As a prospective new hire I liked what I heard about Envoy but the mention of poor QOL and schedules had me concerned. I made the move anyway because of all the other factors and was hired in November. For the uninitiated this is an update on my experience so far.
Details- Commute, DFW based, E175
-Hired in Nov 16
-Finished training in Jan 17
-Finished IOE early Feb.
- Reserve balance of Feb and all of March. Used all company provided hotels during reserve plus had to buy 6 at my own expense.
-Awarded a composite line for April. All trips commutable, 11 days off, 2 weekends off including Easter. Working with crew scheduling I was able to move my 1 reserve day to later in the month to take a 4 day vacation.
-Awarded a hard line for May. 80 hrs credit, all easily commutable with 14 days off.
I'll keep posting updates of my experience for another few months.

Same here. Hero to zero real quick. 89 hours plus another 15 in OT on TDY in LGA and now I'm back to reserve with 11 days off in DFW. Not going to two leg it for LGA. TDY wasn't a bad deal at all.

You must be in the little jet then. I haven't been that lucky with OT on the E175.

Thanks for all the update Skyvector, it's easy to hate on someone giving info. I for one believe it's coming from a good place and good source that has been VERY accurate thus far.
I do believe the pilot group feels it needs to know what's going on. I do believe the Union has the pilots group best interest in mind. Due to the nature of the industry and AAG to make changes, I understand why information is not given. Too many rumors has us running around like chickens.
I understand the importance of Union negotiations, and that the union works for the pilot group, not those on APC spewing false information and influence.
I do believe Mgmt can easily try to circumnavigate the union and often tries to out smart the positions of the union on public forms. So keep that in mind everyone. It's a slippery slope, and Mgmt has broken many trusts.
So thanks for the update Skyvector, but I'll personally await an MEC News Blast or LEC update. We gotta follow the process!
So until an MEC blast updating us, I'll await for more info. I know Eagle Strong was more than a slogan here before I came on-board. It has held this pilot group together.
I hope union leaders continue to maintain strong communication with this pilot group on what is occurring. Times have changed. The organization has utilized us against each other for far too long. It's obvious.
I'm sure great news awaits us at Envoy!
Stay focused, stay engaged, ask questions and most important of all, fly safe!

With all the comments on where the next Envoy base will be, I started looking at where some of the other carriers fly from for AA. PSA flys from DAY, TYS, CLT, CVG, DCA. Piedmont from ROA, SBY, PHL. Just curious why the non AA hub locations for bases?
If one eliminated the "obvious" choices of MIA and LAX; CLT, DCA and PHL already have a AA WO presence, that leaves BOS, STL and PHX. Or is there a reason to put an Envoy base as a non AA hub like PSA and Piedmont currently do?

I know you may think that coming to envoy may the right move but commuting from Alaska, you and your family won't last a year. It's hard enough on families just to commute to ORD or LGA from DFW. i would say being former military, he and his family could cope for a year or two.
If your not, I would definitely consider Horizon for 2 years then come to envoy when you move to Texas. that would just waste two years of seniority

You could use UPS to Louisville and then ride either UPS or whichever AAG flies there from DFW/ORD.

I'm sure you've heard "Size doesn't matter" a few times at least in your life....in this case it's true.
