People good for 1 more day of reserve. 2 more days. 3 more days. Sometimes it's not very accurate though. I don't know if it catches pilots who finished ioe after bids closed.

well, we all knew that. they are hired as first officer and are awarded any open captain slots in indoc, they are still at the bottom of the seniority list and behind any first officer that was hired in same class that ends up senior to the DEC. Oh and on reserve for ever.

No but it does indicate they went straight into a CA slot prior to a vacancy bid offering those slots to current FO’s. No one has a problem with street CA’s themselves, just the way the company went about it in violation of the bidding process in the contract. Not to mention RW’s email itself says they were hired as street CA’s not FO’s any arbitrator will also see it the same way.
If there is a grievance it should be a pay one. These guys are probably getting FO pay until fed ride or IOE (previous CAs don't need a second fed ride.). If they are DEC then CA pay from day one.
The company can't have its cake and eat it too. If they are hired as FOs then they can't start CA training until after a bid. If they are hired as CA then they can start right away. The only thing is No one can claim a grieved status if they are displaced to the CA spot. It's pretty clear all the FOs are displacing to CA position. Displacement pilots start training in reverse seniority so those guys that are DEC would start training first anyways. Starting the DECS in training right off the bat only gets the senior pilots to start training faster.

To be honest I don't think it matters for us. It's just semantics when it comes to us. The company can hire DEC and start them in training right away. That's pretty clear cut contractually.
