So the bonuses are better for the guys on orders. If there’s a 10k bonus the mil guy gets all of that while only flying 50% of the lines. If the entire bonus goes into pay then the same individual effectively loses half of the bonus.

This may however entice mil guys to avoid ML. That being said, the options to skip mil training/deployments are less and less. I just took “voluntary orders” that were not that voluntary... then they extended them. Yeah...

That makes sense. Fair enough.

So I picked up this trip that ends day one in base. The following day (day 2) is a dead day. Flying continues day 3. I was planning to travel on the dead day. This shouldn't be an issue right? I mean I know it's not DFP, but it's a dead day in base. So if scheduling calls me I'm not obligated to answer right?

Be warely of a cancellation. You are not required to answer calls by CS during a trip unless one of your flights is cancelled. Even then, after a cancellation, you can call CS and if they have nothing for you right then, they have to release you to rest until your next scheduled flight. Once released, no responcibility to answer your phone or reply to messages.

Another point of contention, I don’t think the commuter policy will apply to your situation. If you can’t get back for work, even with two options, you’ll be screwed.

Please all... learn when you are required to answer your phone and screen your calls. You really can get screwed by simply answering the phone even when you aren’t required to, as ridiculous as that may sound.

Double check this by contacting your union rep.

Correct me if I am wrong but simply calling them and telling them you are no showing the deadhead would cover his bases as long as he is there for the next flight.

To clarify, there isn't a deadhead. It's a dead day. I fly Thursday, but Friday is a dead day and then I continue flying Saturday. But ive never seen a dead day in base, so I was trying to clarify if I was actually required to pick up if CS calls.

What a weird trip, sounds like someone put two trips together then dropped the middle, then dropped / traded the whole thing.

-Keep the dirty side down

Yes, very weird trip. That's why I am a little unsure about this whole thing.

It's all one sequence number? There's no 24 on your HI1 for that day?

Just talked to the union rep. Said I am good to travel and not required to pick up if I am called. Arguing For a commuter policy in chance I am not able to make it back to base in time for the rest of my flying is about a 50/50 chance he said. I plan to use D1's and have several flights lined up. The only thing in my HI1 for the dead day is "RON" whatever that means..
