I mentioned this in an earlier post, and just wanted to make sure my logic is sound.
I want NYC in the current vacancy bid (I recognize that it is not being offered). So if I bid both DFW fleets in this current bid, I am guessing/hoping that I get it awarded, then am promptly displaced as a more senior pilot will actually want it when the displacements begin, then as long as I have NYC at the top of my 3D...I should get it awarded?
If I end up in DFW, that’s not a bad outcome as I live there, but really want to fly, and will either be a line holder / top of reserve in NYC.

I am sure you must have some form of reasoning but makes zero sense to me.

I know it seems crazy, but I do have a legitimate reason.
My wife and I of course went back and fourth trying to decide on NYC v. DFW, but we ultimately know I will be on airport standby (not building flight time) nearly every day in DFW.
Ultimately, I am bidding for DFW, so I very well could end up with it.

That’s a good point...thanks!
It still only looks like 6 or 7 people though when I look at the N6D, and I am guessing (could be way off), that once block hours increase in spring, there would be an increase in the number of lines. Also, I am guessing that being in the top 10 on reserve means you are much more likely to be awarded flying that was ‘proffered for’ during the daily window.

Top 5 of proffering you pretty much get what you want in LGA, next 5 after that mostly what you want. Expect 50-60 flight hours a month on reserve if your close-ish to the top if you proffer for decent trips.

Thanks so much for the info. That sounds so much better than the perpetual AM airport standby I sit in Miami. I could probably get RAP1 most days, but I really don’t want RAP2/S2, as I don’t want to get stuck on a PMs cycle and not get home on my last day.
Speaking of which, it’s really annoying that even if your proffer is RAP1 then S1, if S1 is available when scheduling gets to you...you get it.
Thanks again everyone.

S1 is considered a flight assignment
