What are the odds of ExpressJet surviving up to the end of the year?

I figure sometime in 2019 is when United figures out Xjet is a lost cause and flying ends in 2020. Who is going to fly the 145’s?

So lets see. You work for Mesa and have all the inside information to make that educated guess? If they haven't shut down Mesa yet I think we are okay!

I made an educated guess based on the Xjet pilot loss rate published in the SkyWest annual report that is segregated by pilot pool, the number of Xjet pilots that United has started to pull out of Xjet in each class (as published on this forum) and the remaining Xjet pilot base. So, I am making an educated guess based on public information. Purely, a numbers calculation. Is Xjet filling their new hire classes?

Just taking a glance at the seniority list I see 65 names added so far in 2018. Average of 10.8 new hires per month.

I guess XJT will just start hiring foreigners that barely speak English like Mesa does. Not only does the CA in charge of the flight, he’s also a translator!

Mesa must have the smartest CA's in the world then. You'd have to fluent in 5 or 6 languages?

There’s no way to get that many pilots on line at a different airline that quickly. I think they will try to shift stuff to CommutAir but it will take more than a year and a half.
CRJs will be gone beginning of 2019, as quickly as SkyWest can field them.
ERJs will shift to CommuteAir, but that will take longer. They aren’t as robust as Endeavor and Inc are so absorbing the airplanes will take longer.

10.8 new hires but an average net loss of 40 pilots per month at XJT.
Total pilots
6/1/18 - 1865
7/1/18 - 1824

1814 as of today
