Nothing else matters if there’s a continual net loss of pilots every month. Let’s see if this contract passes and it’s enough to turn that negative into a positive.

If this contract is non concessionary and adds to pay we should have no problem attracting new hires. New pilots are chasing new planes like kids to candy. With movement and upgrades I see this being the start of a turnaround for XJT. I could also see several of Mesa's 175's coming off lease over the next couple years coming this way as well. Time will tell but hopefully this is a VERY positive step for Expressjet.

The contract will be a big step, but the nuances of contracts beyond pay rates aren't the biggest draw. We may not be able to fill classes until upgrades go down significantly. The new hire bonus of $10,000 probably needs to be bumped up to $20,000 to be competitive.

Very true. If what the union says is true then we should be growing fleet wise again. Upgrades will drop drastically if this happens. I agree the retention bonus must continue.

Quick math says that if, and that's a big "IF" we are able to attract/retain pilots, with 20 200's, 25 175's, and 126 145's, that'll bring us up to 171 airplanes....should make the upgrades down to the 2 year mark.

Any idea of how these aircraft are going to be allocated throughout the system? I’m looking at options in ORD and, to be honest, ExpressJet was at the bottom of my list. I’m interested in what’s developing ... not sure what United’s short and long term goals with XJT are, but something is up.

I've been wondering the same thing and we have literally no idea. It's way too early for that; I'm not sure in United even knows yet. I can tell you most of the recent new hires have been getting Chicago, and the CR2s will be based there as well. But, assuming it's Gojet that's on the losing end of this deal, it could be based in ORD with flows through DEN and IAD. But, we don't know what's what right now.

WOW just WOW...You don't even have 175's. All you have is a rumored "promise" and now your going to get Mesa's in a couple years as well? Who 'promised" you would get 175's in the first place? APC?
