Default Base Assignments

Start Indoc on the 19th of August. Just curious what everyone’s getting for base assignments. And when do they get assigned during indoc? I’m not particular on what type of aircraft. Just really want IAH since Houston is home.

You will get Houston. From what I gather when you find out for sure is somewhat fluid, but they need FOs in every base. They are massively understaffed for sure on the 145 side and have only sent a handful to training in the last month. It appears from the new bid the 175 is going to be fairly well staffed in ORD, so no reason to believe they will force a new hire into that. So regardless of which plane you get, and I hear they have started letting you choose, you can get IAH.

All but 2 were based ORD out of the 7/24-7/25 class. that was a split 145/175 class

All of my class was forced to ORD. Hopefully there will be trading going on before I actually hit the line. Houston based training (out the window with the 175) and not commuting were the reasons I chose XJT.

What are the chances of dropping EWR right out of training? I'm most interested in Newark but unsure how senior it is for FOs these days.

It’s junior but right now bases are not assigned by seniority, in reality. There may be a whole class with all 175 spots, so you only get to choose EWR or IAH. There are classes with all ORD, or classes that get to choose.

The seat lock is 18 months. So if you come here now and want/need Newark, beware that you may be forced into the 175 and will not be able to hold Newark for 18 months plus time to train in the 145 (currently 5 months).

I wish they would do an airplane selection with the job offer like Skywest, so at least you would know which bases you’re seat locked in.

With the 175 you better be ready to accept IAH or ORD. Forget EWR as a guaranteed option.

It was interesting, our class just got split pretty much down the middle. 5 of us got the 145 (what I wanted since I am typed) and the remaining got the 175. YMMV.

Sidenote. (And not at XJT). Just had some conversations with some friends who are stuck there and desperately trying to leave. Do your own research. Why in the h e l l would anyone want to go to XJT? I strongly urge all of you to reconsider your regional airline decision and leave XJT out of the equation. Amazed at how y'all are treated.

Any projections on the current timeline for TYS to hold reserve then a line? I understand it’s very small and senior but hopeful that some of the senior people are upgrading or moving to the 175.

Is it likely to hold reserve within 6 months?

Thanks
