Anyone know if they have classes planned for September?

I flew the 200 for a year, and if I had to do one more back to back AEX or DHN overnight I was going to kill myself. It's a commuter airline operation.

The 700/900 is like mainline. Long flights, big cities, good overnights. Low legs per day. It's no 757, but it has the performance you expect from a jet. FL370 at .82, looking down at the storms is typical, not picking your way through at FL290. The systems on the plane mostly take care of themselves, all you have to do is fly. And on the CA scale the 700/900 pays about $5/hr more (yes I know the FOs is less). But you're getting paid more for less work.

I will stay on the 700 until I can't hold it anymore, even if I'm the plug. It's totally worth it.
I have guys where I work that actually bid for less days off just to not fly the 200.

I agree that it is a nicer airplane but I'll never bid 12 days off when I can get 14 to fly the 200, even in the summer.

Worst case scenario, sleep in the lounge on day 4 if you're done very late and fly out of ATL at 0730 the next morning to wherever you live. Sucks, but inevitably it will happen at least once. Welcome aboard, did you just get hired?
Not hired yet. Still researching my options. I'd love to have an ATL base. Is there very much movement there or is it slow?

How big are the classes? I was told no plans for classes after Aug yet when I was called for an interview earlier this week. Are they just hiring into a pool now?

I would assume so. Here at ExpressJet times are uncertain and unclear. On the CRJ side, while we are experiencing some movement on the FO and Junior Capt side, the potential loss of aircraft due to contracts coming off line in 2015, or the rumored IAD CRJ base closure in early 2015 will certainly wipe out any attrition gains we are making this year if both events do occur.

As of the June seniority list, there were 312 pilots hired in 2007 ALONE. All of these pilots will reach seven full years of service sometime this year and will top out on the pay scale as an FO on both airplanes (CRJ tops out at year 7, CR7/9 at year 8). Captain upgrade for those hired after June 07 is still at least 18-24 months away before they can even think about being the plug Captain in DFW or DTW. If we lose more flying, or have a base closure (both of which are more likely than not, sadly enough) then most of those FO's hired in 2007 and beyond will remain FO's until they are hired elsewhere. I hate typing that and I hate the reality of it, but it is a sad fact.

Just for the record: The CRJ IAD base closure I mentioned above is only a rumor, there is nothing solid that supports this rumor, nor has our MEC/ALPA stated anything about it, but it seems to be a hot rumor amongst most pilots I've spoken to.

XJT has a lot of potential and could accomplish a lot of good things in the future, but we have so much drama and baggage we have to sort out in the next year that nobody can accurately predict what will happen. Is it a better move to come here over another airline?...that I cannot answer with any certainty.

Just talked to a buddy of mine who interviewed back in May and was given a 8/25 class date. He just got a voice mail notifying him that his class date has been "postponed indefinitely" because "they are re-evaluating the block times with delta united and American"

That sucks, I hate to hear that classes are being "postponed," aka cancelled as of now. That translates into: We don't know if we are going to keep the same amount flying we have now because we don't know what airplanes are or are not coming off lease etc etc. Attrition is decent now and will only continue to pick up in the Fall. Not exactly a good sign re: Aug class postponement.

No. With attrition as it is, they should resume classes relatively soon.
