AD OPT | Airline Crew Planning Optimization

Ad-opt, a division of Kronos, provides PBS software for 20 airlines, including us. There really isn’t a discussion on whether we have PBS in the Secondary Line system or not, we do.

So what? Any airline that still uses published line bidding has some kind of method of receiving inputs for and building secondary lines with conflicted trips (i.e PBS). We've been doing it that way at FedEx for a very long time.
I'd love to see an awesome, transparent, easy to use and understand bidding program for our secondary lines that honors seniority and produces quality schedules. If the company or we call it "PBS" I really don't give a rat's ass.
The problem isn't how we create our secondary lines (anything would be better than what we've used for the last 20 years). It's the fact that the "known R-day" language in CBA 2015 has allowed a large increase in secondary lines across all fleets. That is a much bigger problem than worrying about whether we call our secondary line process "PBS" or not.

You could have, but our union dropped the ball. When the company demanded PBS and drew the line in the sand, the union should have said "Ok here's our version of PBS, we designed it and like it." There's no way they could have won in court. This is what NWA's pilot union did and they controlled and loved their PBS.

Yes, that is precisely the problem. WE have no control on how the company builds secondary lines. Which is why we should have designed our own system with our own parameters.

Again, the secondary process didn't have to be this bad. We let them do it to us. They got the software they wanted with the parameters they wanted.

Rumor: I've heard the SLG software IS NOT the software that we negotiated for with C2015. Rumor is this is the software they had already developed and had always wanted.

Question: has the MEC Chairman signed off on the new SLG software as proposed in C2015?

The 75 bid pack is now 37.7% PBS for Captains and 33.7% PBS for FOs.

We have been snookered by the company and we better pull our heads out of our a$$es before they do it again with our retirement.

So, there’s a block of 777 R-days in open time. If no one picks them up voluntarily..........do they get assigned to a reserve pilot?...... wait....what?

Totally missed my point.

FXDX says it’s 37.7% but it’s not.
