Tony is spot on.

Maybe just this one time.

Was anyone at the meeting this week? Curious if people were brining up these points...

I heard that proceeding with the VB plan had less support in the poll than the last contract. More than 50%, but less than 57%.

Any discussion of support numbers, especially in percentages, is completely fiction. Besides a random survey, with skewed questions, sent to only a portion of the group, the pilots have yet had a chance to weigh in collectively. This is despite the fact that we were promised to have input prior to going to the company.

I have emailed my Block Rep. This madness needs to stop now. Not only do I not want our A Plan taken away or soft/hard frozen, but I want it improved to the point it was designed to do.

From what I was told, they only 700👍🏻 to proceed.

While I agree with you 100%, the last poll was initially conducted by phone for a select few and then open for all FedEx ALPA members to participate in. My guess is that many chose not to participate or aren't on the MEC mailing list and didn't know it was open. I made it clear that I wasn't in favor of proceeding with the VB plan. I have also let the MEC know my feelings.

I wasn’t selected for a phone survey. I did the online survey and left no question that I was very opposed to the VB plan.

I don’t remember a question that specifically said, “do you want us to engage the company and negotiate the VB plan”. Not saying the question wasn’t asked, but I sure don’t remember it. Obviously, my answer was no.

I wrote my block rep about 10 days ago and haven’t heard back.

Is there any doubt we’ll totally mess this up? It’s an incredibly complex plan and we’re negotiating with amateurs. We know the company has a team of accountants/lawyers and we have pilots and a couple of lawyers that will be completely outclassed.

Last time we settled our contract prior to peak with a very lean crew force. We caved on multiple items (retirement was a huge fail). The company outlasted us and we ran out of money due to lengthy negotiations and parties at Buffalo Wild Wings. Now we’re spending our money on Blitzstein and Cheiron and negotiating a retirement change that a lot of us don’t want. Are we really this stupid?

I suggest the union stop and have a vote on this. They promised up that they wouldn’t go forward with our approval, but they don’t seem to care. If the majority votes to move forward, I reserve the right to tell you “I told you so”, but at least you have a majority.

That’s because they did NOT ask that question. They asked a generic “would you like the union to work on improving retirement” type question. I think we can all answer yes to that. But they did not ask about whether we wanted them to pursue the VB! I think they knew better. Now they’re using stats from an entirely unrelated question as “support” to pursue a VB plan that at least a “vocal” majority of us have no interest in! I’d like to see the specific question asked and true results released.

LEC 7 election closes on the 10th. There are three representatives running who voted for this and are running. If you haven’t voted now is your chance to vote in some new blood. Drain the swamp.
