Don’t we already have a weekend layovers and don’t they pay 18 hours?

Don't you work here? I thought you did. Did you ever fly in the domestic system? Weekend layovers are pretty normal things in the domestic hubturning bidpacks. Land Friday or Saturday morning, layover until Monday night.

You know who doesn't go to FAR limits because of snow near Memphis.

Me.

You know who doesn't go to Operational limits every time.

Me.

I don't need a reg or a CBA to protect me. I'm either fit to fly or I'm not.

There's been times on HSBY where I've been well within CBA Scheduled limits and I've said No-not doing that.
Times when an Operational Emergency's been called and I've said-NO.

I am never obligated to fly anything.

Never.

I've said no to CRS BS revisions after being on duty a mere 7 hours following a 27-hour layover.
On paper, it should have been copacetic. In practice, not so much.

This is one of the best things I’ve heard you say.

20 years ago there were a lot more weekend layovers in the bid packs.

A lot, but not all, have been replaced by double deadheads.

Sometimes certain snow cities have weekend layovers in the winter and double deadheads in the summer. Rochester is an example.

The company will do whatever is cheapest while protecting the system.

I would expect nothing less.

I would not expect them to spend money for what is convenient for us.

That’s great, and the way it should be handled. But we’re talking system safety for a large pilot group.

Otherwise what’s the purpose of duty limits at all? We could just all call fatigued when we’ve had enough, right?

Since the original post was borderline incomprehensible I’m ok with that.

I do work at purple, but the MD bid pack hasn’t seen a weekend layover in at least 4 years. It’s all double deadheads.

Weekend layovers will come\go depending on the DH cost to\from a particular city as well as manning requirements of the company.

Company would rather pay us to sit around in a city, potentially available, versus buy up our lines and pay us while we're at home off the clock with "free" CHs.

75 flying was drastically reduced in the summer with lots of extra bodies and an increase in Weekend Layovers.

When the company needs the productivity, DH's increase.
