Hey all, just wondering if the 1000 TPIC is officially a “recommended” figure now or if it is just reduced to 500 TPIC. I tried applying to FedEx yesterday, but one of the questions was “Do you have 500 PIC turbine, turboprop, etc...”, which I don’t. After selecting no it said I was ineligible. I know there have been some concerns surrounding the online application process as a whole, so I was wondering if this is one of the flaws or if I am, indeed, ineligible. Thanks in advance.

Well, from your post, I guess 500 is the bare minimum, even if you are "special". I doubt if the application software has this kind of error in it.
Work towards your 500 and apply again. Good luck. Keep trying. I have heard it said that they value persistence.
It's amazing. A few short weeks ago, we were lots of folk's second choice. It doesn't seem to be that way anymore.

Further, yes 1000 TPIC is preferred and 500 TPIC is required. But, even at the minimum quals, you'd be hard pressed to get an interview without some other credential, or endorsement. YMMV.

Exactly. I know people are in precarious situations, but I don't enjoy the recent surge of "Hey can you help me out" texts from those just recently waving around profit sharing checks.

Now I want to make it clear I don’t wish I’ll will on anyone and I will do everything in my power to help friends get on at FedEx if/when the furloughs come. I have received calls already. What I hope is that this drops a bit of reality back into not only the passenger industry but also into our group and why it’s so important to get a big bump in our A and B plan and never link pay to company profits. Our job is not to make the company profitable, it’s to fly airplanes. Someone else is compensated millions to count beans and make sure that we save more beans than we spend.

After all, every legacy was hiring, and I'd be a fool to go fly for a company that will be bought out, see single pilot ops, insert any other excuse.
Not saying we are immune, but historically our business model has been successful through hard times. Been there done that with another company.
