What I see

-HKG fleet CA position moving back to MEM
-APAC position moving to ANC bc no one wanted DP’s position bc its in HKG
-Practice bid showed half the HKG FOs bidding out or over to HKG CA
-HKG CA going to guys less than 3 years on property

I think HKG base closure, signs all point to most don’t want to be there, difficult to staff. ANC or LAX 767 base. ANC 777 seems likely as well.

Have to wonder if the company has used Boeing’s hard times as leverage to get some more 777s and 767s at rock bottom prices.

Seems logical.

It seems logical, but how are they going to keep the Intra Asia stuff staffed for sick, fatigue, and IROPS? They’d need tons of HSBY reserves in Asia somewhere, which kind of negates the cost savings or manpower issues.

With all the focus on Asia is there any reason to set up 767s in Europe?

think maybe a temporary base at the covid vac. production site/country

President and chief executive of FedEx Express Don Colleran said: “We look at this really as a supply chain design opportunity first of all for many months as you can imagine we were talking with the major manufacturers and customers in the healthcare space, along with HHS CDC and the FDA. So, this will be clearly a global team effort.
“What’s unique about this opportunity when you think it through is, there is very good a chance that, lot of ingredients are going to be made in one country. The manufacturing of these vaccines are in other country and other region and the consumption or the need for this is global. And this is why we are uniquely positioned.

Default CRK and HKG

Agree that CRK will not replace CAN--and would suggest that is not the company's intent. CRK would--along with KIX and others--serve to balance APAC capacity/throughput as ops at CAN have apparently fallen short of operational expectations (the accessibility issue mentioned within the APAC Mgr announcement). Strategically, I believe the HKG domicile to be at near-term risk given PRC strategic intent in HKG, South China Sea and Taiwan. Perhaps the modified bid would posture to begin to mitigate this risk and provide a more efficient, balanced APAC architecture provided specifically by a change to fleet planning. This would address the intra-APAC operational challenges WRXPilot highlighted. Just an uneducated guess--we shall see shortly.

Lots of possibilities but FWS is a hard negotiater (we should know) so the simple defuction is an airframe adjustment or addition while taking advantage of a buyers market. We need a REAL replacement AC for MD11 and there are a crapload of 737maxes sitting around to help with aging 757s.

Maybe he bought an airline to get cheap DH tickets from LA to asia.

What I see is pure speculation.

737 max? Thats a joke, right? You have to get FAA approval and get the whole airplane converted to a freighter.

About 4 yrs ago we had half a day of training playing what ifs with a release. AC type was a MAX. Fedex can do incredible things with a skill saw.
