This is awesome news. I’m happy our company is hiring during this time in aviation history. Is it so hard for people to be positive? I’m convinced the negative people here are posting after getting their Chinese anal swabs.

I wonder how long folks already on property will wait for ITU for a new plane? Been denied the past two months for new hire requirements. I’m guessing I won’t train until next year.

Most likely. It’s a huge QOL hit in our CBA. Unfortunately, most don’t pay attention to Sec 24 until it effects them. Also, anyone who is in the seat they plan to retire in likely doesn’t care about Sec 24.

And are you not getting an SDP for that? Many actually like this concept because it allows them to keep or increase seniority in current seat while receiving the SDP (pay increase). Many have made out very nicely getting the SDP in the right seat of the 75 and doing draft all the while getting double deadhead trips. They then go to the “to” seat they bid and actually make less due to being a reserves with no draft. They also realize the quality of life hit they bid by going to the more senior airplane. Another one of those “it depends who you ask” things.

Well yea, I will get a nominal payment, but it’s more of a life planning issue. I’m not trying to complain. Though when they put the estimated training thru put on the bid posting and it doesn’t come to fruition it kind of makes it difficult to make plans.

A 75FO with a training bid should be getting the 2015 version of Passover pay...and deferring that WB FO training as long as they choose to

There are also plenty of pilots who wouldn’t be on reserve on the plane they are awaiting training on. Pilots who are senior and who have waited for one reason or another to change equipment and are now being denied the ability to go to training. Also, SDP only goes to those who would have been able to hold training that month. It doesn’t go further down but it certainly delays training much further down the bid list. Abrogation of seniority no matter how rosy you try to paint the picture.

Unfortunately, that is not how any of this works. I've recently gotten an education on that section of our contract. No SDP, no NHJAC. They can stuff all the new hires they want in front of me and there is no compensation or disincentive for them to do so. I will be on narrow body pay until someone is kind enough to start training pilots on property. Until then I am stuck and get to watch them fill the seat I was awarded with new hires.

It’s truly unfortunate. Abrogation of seniority should never be celebrated the way it is by some on this forum.
