Would it change your mind if you knew the MEC has not met nor been briefed by the Negotiating Committee since the 1 September meeting with The Company failed to produce a TA, so they have only read the same update you and I have read?
If there was a meeting, the minutes will be published at some point after the October MEC meeting. Don't hold your breath.

The MEC reps and officers didn't know what the NC initially passed across the table regarding retirement either. They didn't know if the NC was asking for an increase to the FAE, the VB plan, a Flat Dollar plan, or something else. They left it up to the NC to decide how to proceed. Does that sound like the MEC is leading?

MEC Chair's Message - 9/7/22
It should be very clear by now that every bargaining session is critical. Our patience for the Company’s plodding approach to bargaining has been exhausted. Thanks to the diligent work of our Negotiating Committee, however, everything is on the table. The Company has no excuses remaining as our numbers are known and our interests in Section 28 have been communicated to the Company’s bargaining team ad nauseam. The only thing left is for the Company to decide whether it wants to recognize its most loyal employee group, which has always been there for this Company, or engage in a self-damaging campaign.
We’re not waiting for that decision. As you are aware, we have set a picketing event for September 26th in New York City. We chose that location for a much greater profile which needs to be publicized. The Company’s opportunity for a private success story is rapidly diminishing.
For some, attendance will be impossible. If that is you, I ask that you support the effort by sharing information concerning the event with your family and friends. Every pilot needs to find a way to be a force magnifier.
We obviously would welcome a proper deal that satisfies our Openers. However, I want it to be clearly understood that if that doesn’t happen between now and September 26th, we equally welcome the opportunity to gather in New York and show our collective strength and frustration with this Company. In the meantime, our negotiating team will exhaust efforts to close the deal.

I found myself agreeing with some of your recent posts, but this one seems divisive and unfounded. I have went to meetings and talked with the NC and my reps and this is not what they said. Is this another rumor that has been communicated about by the union? Are you falling into the companies trap? Definitely not a substantiated accusation from what I have been told by my reps and NC.

This TA will be full of concessions at a time when there should be none. Offering your VB plan as an "option" while offering little to no gains for the DB plan isn't a win. It's a concession. Give aways on vacation and travel arent part of some hard fought strategy to secure an industry leading contract. They are concessions pure and simple. If you need to read them over and consider their merits in the midst of the largest labor shortage in more a generation and with the company yielding eye watering finanical gains , well I look forward to more degraded TAs to come under the nuanced guise of "this works for me".

Ok, then why is it a mystery to rest of us? Oh I remember a TA is supposed to be like a box of cracker Jack's you just don't know what you get until you open it. This entire process is both maddening and laughable. In 30 years in this business this is the weakest union I've ever seen. I'm not talking about the leadership. I mean the Back biting, self dealing, me first behavior, of the rank and file member is so common one wonders why the company doesn't just drag this out ad infinitum. Couple that with "we can't tell you what we're asking for" because of the oft repeated and absurd everytime it's spoken notion about "negotiating in public" and i find myself having no faith in the process nor those repeating just trust us. The leading survey questions and the outside of section 6 offers to amend a major section of the contract all communicate the top down shut up and color mentality that has no place in a private workforce.

Shaman is spot on. But most are too full of themselves to see the bigger game at play. I get the arrogance. after all, you’ve landed the dream job. the majors, is what they’re telling new hires at indoc. sadly, more than half the pilot group can’t shake the minor league mentality, the boasting, the posturing, y’all are posers at best, beaten over and over again by the better opponent, beaten by your own arrogance really, and no one can fault you because after all you are human, enticed by shiny things, look at how the company won the vote last time from the imminent retirees, buy their votes, and shove the new work rules up our asses!

What I’m saying is that if the MEC disagreed with communications or anything, they can and would change their current stance. That fact that they haven’t speaks to what I’m saying, the MEC is doing exactly what it wants, whether that is status quo or change.
You guys just don’t agree with the manner in which they are leading, which is perfectly fine. Let’s just be clear about what we are talking about.
