The firm reiterated its plan to repurchase $1.5B of stock in FY23 and expects to buy back $1B of stock during Q2.”

I’m guessing the Company has more to do with that than “we” did. Regardless, this is still the fastest we have EVER gotten to the economic section of negotiations and it appears with far less items open according to the Neg Grid. I’ll take the pace of this negotiation over any other dating back to the 1999 CBA.

I disagree completely with all of your post FWIW.
Sure the company was going to drag their feet, that's what they always do. I came from another airline and I still scratch my head as to why our union waits until the amendable date is right around the corner and then we set expectations for a contract almost a year past the amendable date. We should have started the process so as to be TA complete on the amendable date.

Agreed. We should have been picketing on Nov 1, 2021. And yet we weren't. Why?

We had early openers. 6 months prior to amendable date. Did you forget that or just choose not to post that fact? Getting to an agreement takes the companies willingness to get to that point within the early bargaining period. At my previous legacy we had one year early openers. They are still in negotiations. Having early openers doesn’t guarantee any quicker of a process. To get early openers you have to have both parties agree to it also. You can say you want openers two years ahead of time but that doesn’t mean the other side will agree or that it will get you done any faster. Ask all the other majors that have been in negotiations for three or four years. Ask SWA who after almost 3 years of negotiations filed for mediation today.

Well I would hope it was the fastest to got to the money section since there were far fewer sections opened. And just like running the 400m, it doesn’t matter if you finished the first 300m in first if you stall out at the end of the race.

How many negotiation meetings have they had since Sept 1? How many more did they add? Why haven’t we been told?

We will only get what we demand and show we are willing to fight for. The MEC has done little to prepare the crew force for a fight IMO.

Looks like 3 meetings so far in sept. according to the grid. Couple of quick alternating passes on sect. 28. My guess is they are close…good or bad who knows.

Yes, we had early openers. But what was the target date we agreed to for a TA? I don't think you understood my point. And yeah, the passenger airlines are in the contract situation that they're in because COVID hit them right when they were in negotiations.

These were not “early openers.” Don’t listen to NoClue. Section 31.C.1 says that openers happen between 30 and 180 days from the amendable date when either party files the appropriate paperwork. Our openers were less than 180 days from the amendable date. They were normal contractual openers.

The target date was 12 months from openers. Not unrealistic with the narrow negotiating items. If you are allowing forgiveness for negotiations time during COVID then you are ok with giving a pass to the company for delaying during a down trending economy for freight and cargo?

You made my point for me. That is early openers language and that language has to be agreed to by both parties.
