While I understand the issue about the Pratts, Joseph's email didn't say they were only retiring Pratts. And this isn't about UPS. It is about FedEx.

Just like when FedEx retired perfectly good 727s and replaced them with more fuel efficient and less reliable 757s. And worse the 727s were the most reliable jet in our network. They did it for the ESG. It was all to say that FedEx was being environmentally friendly.

FedEx is going to park the MD-11s. While it make take years, it is starting in April.

what do you mean it’s starting in April? We started in January. One for one being “replaced” with 767s

No doubt about it. Check out the planned system wide block hours of the MD for May compared to March. More than a 21% reduction.

For May? Where are you seeing future block hours per aircraft?

I definitely agree with you they will be parking MDs. However, the rumored amount to be parked over such a short time, AND throw in possible base closures would cause furloughs. So you have to forgive me for not believing the FUD. Yes, again I know the MDs are going away, but the rumors are ridiculous in this heated negotiations environment.

VIPS/Resources/Flight Schedules…select May and then put in 26 for equipment code. Then equipment summary. Or you can do it for the entire fleet if you leave the equipment block blank.

Parking 56 Md-11’s in short order, or at least prior to delivery of the remaining 777/767, implies a serious loss in demand for our service. If that were the case, the contagion would have spread to UPS/DHL. UPS has certainly slowed but isn’t talking about parking 1/3 of its widebody fleet. If we’re parking that many aircraft, we should all be seeking entertainment elsewhere. These are stupid reindeer games that must be played before we get a contract. Don’t give in to the fear. Or do give into the fear and go to one of the many places that are hiring. Just don’t accept less than you’re worth because you think you’re saving your job. If they need us, they’ll keep us. If they don’t, they’ll furlough you without batting an eye. There is no purple promise, no PSP, just business. Stand strong.

We have 188 more frames than our rival. I would expect that we will shrink the fleet to more closely match our rivals numbers. Ive been saying this for years. We are turning into ips with blue pants instead of brown. In the 90s we had better schedules and browns schedules sucked. Well..that went the way of ups. I expect more of this. Upgrade times…i fly with FOs who have been here for 15 yrs so. Its a crapshoot.

So we need to shrink by 188 airframes to remain competitive? So we'll only need about 3500 pilots now?
