We need to understand what kind of fight we’re in for. Our current NC called it a negotiation and not a hold up. It was a hold up. We gave up so much for a little increase in pension. This TA needs to go down. If it does, it’s not like we’ll march in and hold them up. This’ll be a second go with Dietrich for me and many of us. Dietrich is really good at what he does. He will stall this and force us to go all the way down the RLA rabbit hole. In the meantime, our staffing will take care of itself. The company and union have basically told the bottom 500 to GTFO. Many will go. We may see a few senior folks decide to hang up their spurs as well. If we see a rebound and enough bail, the company will have to hire. Who will they find? We might have some leverage then. Otherwise we will return to the table and fight like he** to nail down scope and pension protections. We’ll probably not get the lost money back, but that’s not why we’re voting no. We must nail down some sort of job protections. This includes scope and crew compliment as new crappy automation comes online. Without it, who cares what our pay scales are. Regardless of this TA outcome, be ready for a battle for your future that’ll make the red letter look like pre-school story hour.
To hell with our NC and MEC. This contract must fail and will fail. We have enough people on property who know this snake. FedEx and I mean everyone from us pilots, to maintenance, to bus drivers, to ground shipping need to put their foot down. Right now we have to lead this charge and send a message and watch how quickly everyone will follow our lead.

I can imagine being a fly on the wall during JD interview.
Fedex, What would your skills bring to FedEx?
JD, If you look at my history at Atlas I crushed the pilots, I will do the same thing at FedEx. I will drag negotiations out for five plus years, use the RLA to the max and tie them up in the court system if the TA gets voted down.
Fedex, When can you start!

All I can say is “you’re all ****ed now”.
JD should have been banned from any aviation job for life.
ALPA lacks in its entirety the experience to deal with swamp rats like this jackass.
The best advice, take the gloves off, bust out the baseball bats and get ready for some bare knuckle fighting with management.
Your pilot group to be honest is simply not ready for what you’re about to deal with with this cancerous piece of ****.
if you guys haven’t been filing 500 grievances a year and held 50+ arbitrations, and filed 10 federal lawsuits a year… get ready ****s about to get real!
My condolences

It cost both side enormous time and monetary penalties to wage that war.
Did The Atlas pilots win? No, it was more like a draw where nobody won.
In the end, JD was gone, BOD knew labor relations could never be taken down that dark path ever again and behind the scenes the BOD demanded a full retraction of certain CBA elements returning the Atlas’ Pilots ability to ratify contracts by vote after losing that ability for over 20 years.
You’re in for a fight of your lives with this guy, get ready.

With all due respect the pilots at Atlas forced his termination with cause (30 days notice) as a result of the battle waged against JD and his toxicity.
