better long term prospects and fedex don’t belong in the same sentence brother. They are gutting this company like a fish and want as little actual fedex employees as they possibly can while still pretending to run the company. Outsourced drivers pilots and automated sort facilities anything they can do to increase their bonus. The product is horrendous it’s not a revolutionary idea it’s an old outdated dead concept and there’s nothing new or innovative that will change the direction of the company. Just the same old product that some old dead white guy thought of 50 years ago that hasn’t adapted to the modern world. Theres not a huge need for domestic shipping anymore when you can have something at your door in 2 hours from an Amazon warehouse. If you commute there is zero and I mean zero reason you would go to FedEx if you live in Memphis and Memphis alone for some god forsaken reason is the only reason I would partially consider working for that dumpster fire. You will be sleep deprived, make less money, and have zero seniority progression as they shrink their fleet with no airplanes on the horizon.

I’ll never forget the feeling of standing on the stairs at 0440 on a delayed commute home from a trip that finished in MEM around 2230 to get home at 0730 est to drive home in morning traffic after being up from the day before face oily mouth cold and dry thinking why the fook am I doing this. I now commute at like 0900 fly my trip and am home in my bed at the latest at 0000. The only thing I slightly miss at fx is a weekend layover at a good city but even that is over a weekend and a pain to do multiple times a month. The rest is garbage. Stay away I promise you

Atlas and Kalitta crews probably spent as much or more time in hotel jail than FDX crews. Y’all need to get over yourselves.

Hmm. The way I remember it was Atlas crews were doing our MEM-SJU and ANC-MEM flying while we were in lockdown in CAN.

The only time we saw Atlas in China, they were turning through and not laying over.

Saw them a decent bit in Korea/Japan, though they seemed to not get the same memo we got about not being allowed to leave the hotel.

We didn't do layovers in China (which meant we flew 18-20 hour duty days). But we did do hotel prison sentences in SYD, HKG, BKK and so on.
In ICN, our company negotiated a deal with the Korean government that we were exempt from the quarantine requirements.

Atlas did plenty of hotel jail around the world during Covid. Kalitta flew Ebola evacuees out of Africa and then the first groups of Americans with Covid out of Asia…all on freighters with passenger pallets. FDX pilots are not the only “heros” out there. You need to get over yourself. With that said, I hope you hit the ball out of the park with your contract negotiations. It will help all of us.

Hit the ball out of the park? Damn. I hope we can just get on base at this point.
