FedEx Interviews and Class Dates

Wow, now there's some irony. FedEx and Southwest under the same umbrella for their hiring database. C'mon FedEx, you're better than this! Maybe UPS should join in.
Southwest - let's interview 50 guys today and pick the two that are the "coolest" to our female HR staff. They're the experts because they were obviously the prom queen. :roll eyes: We need a new database because we wore out the existing list of 10000 in a year. And we interviewed all of them.
FedEx - let's interview 100 and we will hire 100. We don't pull punches, and we remain as objective as we can with a simulator and scenario based problem at our interview. But we still have 4000 qualified pilots left camped next to the phone.
UPS - Let's hire 150 this year and furlough them asap. And we made a billion in profit.
FedEx or bust my bros. The rest don't compare.

I have always thought the interview process at FedEx was largely "intellectually honest..." They actually appear to want to hire those they call in to interview.
I know SWA is a great company for the folks who work there, but I have never understood their hiring model. Then again, I guess it sells a lot of type ratings for their buddies at Higher Power and K&S.
I completely enjoy helping people get ready for any interview--especially when they are going to their first choice. A lot of good folks are at SWA, and more will join them. That said...getting hired there is a pain, and your synopsis had coffee going through my nose.

Just stay current and hold on until they call, and have Emerald in the speed dial and cash in the MM for the prep.

With all these problems with pilotcredentials.com it is hard to believe FedEx and Southwest continue to use their services... Maybe it is a test of the applicant's patience, and part of the interview process
Stay patient and persistent. Hope you all get the call, I know the feeling from the outside. The 20 newhires per month is great news for all! Good luck.

Spoke with a Check Airman the other day who had been briefed by the new PhD type that is head of hiring. Apparantly he has been in charge at Delta and has done research on hiring.
The overall factor in this guy's formula is a determination as to how much will the new hire cost the company in his/her career. Cost is associated with training and lost time due to sick leave usage from your other activities. His main determination is are you teachable. Secondly, do you have outside activities/interests that would interfere with your work by having you call in sick.
Sadly we won't find out for several years how screwed up this is going to be. Leave it to the bean counters to be stupid.

Other issues with the pilotcredentials site: Will not take a date for FAA class 1 medical. Will not allow you to check both FAA class 1 and Military flight physical boxes. Does not have seperate places to upload resumes (I had one targeted at FedEx and one targeted at Southwest. No way to ensure the potential employer won't open the wrong one. I uploaded a generic resume instead). Kind of disapointed with piloltcredentials' "exciting" new changes.
I had the same issues yesterday and I just logged on to work through the mess and thay have now added a drop down next to each upload (resume, LOR, etc.) that you can specify which airline can view it or you can select both. The same option is now also on the referal tab. I wish they had just left it the way it was, or better yet SWA and FedEx just switch to airlineapps.com. That site has been pretty user friendly when I update my Delta info monthly.

They know this will happen yet still we have high numbers of current military getting hired. It doesn't seem like a civilian background guy calling in sick for 72 hours a year would be much more of a productivity loss, at least to the degree of Crystal Ball access this Phd claims to have.
(whisper)"Don't hire this guy, he'll call in sick"
"Are you sure"
"well, no, but trust me"
"uhh, okay"
Who knows. Bring guys in, talk to them, if they are good dudes then hire them. Why complicate it with Fake Science?

The new and improved version is a bit strange...now SWA and FEX can see each other???
For you military guys...it now says to upload actual times, check the sortie box, and "later" you will be allowed a sortie conversion....the problem is there is no "later" right now. Looks broken for now.
My interview is in 2 weeks...good time for last minute changes.

FYI - email from pilotcredentials.com
The site is now open, but we are still working on some reported issues. (References and attachments, and sortie adjustments being on the top of my list so far!)
But i have good news, air carriers are not open to viewing the profiles that have been imported at this time. They are still connected with the original profile views, and they are both aware we are in a conversion process and they are giving us time/space to get the wrinkles ironed out.
Please note: only you, the profile holder, will be able to see ALL of the data elements you have in your profile. Each air carrier will be able to view ONLY the portions of the profile, attachments, and references that are "pointed" to them.
Please go ahead and see how your profile is setting and where you can edit or adjust your data do so, and feel free to report back on any issues.
Thank you for your patience.
