Didn't we just buy more MD-11s?

Probably parking it because it is worn out, not because we don't need it!

They prep it for the desert before it gets there? Revenue flight to the boneyard?
IF all this happened I'm sure there is a story behind it. Going back to the leasing company, etc.

Deferring the C-checks until they need the jets. Parked a 310-300 too. When they anticipate needing them, they'll pull them into MX. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I suspect a communication break-down. Kwri10s operated the plane on the last revenue flight prior to MX prepping it to send to the desert. He found all of that out when MX showed up at block-in.

If you look at the Fleet Status on the flight planning web site you will see "VCV Storage" . Three MD-10s and several A310s. Latest version is Oct11. If this MD-11 goes to storage it will show up if/ when they update the fleet status.

The 2/14/12 version (from MX website, not PFC) shows 3 MD10s, 14 A310s, and 11 B727s in storage at VCV. And to answer a previous post, we got 4 MD11s last year from TransMile.

I'm told 20 pilots a month from March through November. That's huge.
