FedEx Interviews and Class Dates

On related news, I heard there should be a bid in late May/early June. BTW, new-hires get the opportunity to participate in a vacancy bid from day 1 on property, which is pretty cool.
Good luck to those waiting for the call. I'm hoping for a close friend to get a call too.

Late May/Early June looks like about the right time frame for a bid. 57 Training Letter runs out in early July, 777 runs out in late July, 11 runs out in mid July and the Bus runs out in May(?). By the time the bid closes, Crew Staffing massages it and works the training issues, should be ready for folks to fill the Training Letter in July.

Yes. I had two recs and no sponsor and I'm currently in the pool. Look through your logbooks or ask around your current flying gig. Chances are there is someone that is at FedEx that you can contact. Even if it's somebody you feel may not remember you, shoot them an email anyway...you never know until you try. Good luck.

An old Delta guy told me when I was in college that he was overpaid 363 or 364 days a year. About a day a year, he did something that earned that pay for the entire year.
The problem in our profession is we never know when that day will be, so we have to train for it like it will be on our next takeoff, enroute segment, or landing. So we have to be ready every day. Most of the time--its complete overkill. I had my fun in the F-15...I LIKE boring flights now. Boring is good...
My pay was earned this year preventing a captain from crossing a runway he didn't have clearance to cross. After watching runway safety videos and briefings ad nauseum for years it finally happened to me, but with a good outcome. I hope 2012 is nice and boring too, but I'll try to be ready for anything.
So--glorified bus driver? Maybe some days. But that one day every now and then you need the experience, diligence, and professionalism from your crews the pay they earn is very inexpensive compared to the price of mistakes...

An old, Vietnam-era Marine pilot explained it exactly the same way to me about 25 yrs ago.
