Default HSBY trip gaurantee

Is there such thing as trip gaurantee for a hotel standby? Specifically, you get assigned a trip on the second day of a hotel standby period that lasts beyond your scheduled remaining hotel standby periods. The trip shows up on your schedule as a revision. But since it is longer than the original credit hours of the original hotel standby assignment, is that now your trip guarantee once you are assigned the trip and block out? Or is your trip guarantee for the pairing what was originally credited when you were assigned the hotel standby?

There is nothing better than an advocate of our contract, a strong advocate, demonstrating how little he knows of said contract.

But he heard on the crewbus that ...

We ... had to pass this Contract in order to find out what was in this Contract?

No, on the crew bus where people actually talk face to face, it usually isn't hard to get a decent answer to a question about our contract. Or at least a reference about where to look.
You must have this one figured out already Anthrax. As a rabid, wrist slashing no voter, why don't you prove your expertise in our terrible contract and share your knowledge?

To clarify, the pairing was a field hotel standby with a trip that went through multiple revisions. I'm trying to figure out what they based the final CHs of the trip on. The contract discusses trip guarantee for Base Hotel Standby. I can't find if the same rules apply to Field Hotel Standby.

A crew bus driver told me to tell you that the CBA search function says to try 12.B.3. c & d. and if that reference doesn't satisfy then you will just have to email the folks in crew pay for the answer .

Thanks. I think we had the same bus driver. Unfortunately, that reference focuses on duty parameters for field hotel standbys. The only reference I could find regarding trip guarantee is 4.0.4. If a pilot on base hotel standby blocks out on a trip, he shall earn the trip guarantee for that trip.
But the contract defines a difference between Base Hotel Standby and Field Hotel Standby in places like the section you reference, so I'm not sure it is accurate to assume section 4.O.4 includes Field Hotel Standbys.
I'll go with your second suggestion and email the folks in crew pay.

I would think that you would get paid for the entire time, the time you showed up, until the trip actually ended. Plus, shouldn't you get paid at 150% for any time you were extended past the original footprint (if it goes over two hours)? This is kind of confusing to me, but it seems like that's the way it ought to go.

Thanks for that response, and yeah, the trip I got assigned initially extended well beyond the initial hotel standby period. But after blocking out it was revised about 10 times to include adding and deleting deadheads. Unlike getting called off reserve, where you get assigned an actual trip, a hotel standby pairing just gets revised. Your pairing number doesn't change, so it's harder to determine how to break out your pay for a trip you are added to. Especially if there are multiple revisions. The contract is somewhat clear for base hotel standbys. Not so clear for field hotel standbys. I thought I'd try here before calling crew pay so that if there was something obvious I was missing, the ever helpful APC crowd would enlighten me.

Well, you know pilots, we're always willing to give advice, whether or not we know what we're talking about!

However, I think for standbys, you probably won't get credit for trip revisions (like deadhead deleted), but I am certain that you get the draft pay for being extended. Plus, you will get paid for additional duty periods. I have pulled Indy standby and gotten both. Might even get credit for more than 50% of layovers changed. I suggest you file for everything you think you might be entitled to, and let crew pay make the yes or no decision. However, the 150% pay should be automatically credited to you without request. Let us know how it goes for you.

I don't know that you need to call them, but at least file for any possibility. The contract is confusing, and it's too bad this isn't automatically applied without a paylog.
