No change. the "guarantee" is inside of 24 hours. But there are many reasons to be bumped. Aircraft change, operational emergency, check airman, DOD courier etc.

According to the contract highlights from back in the fall, we can now bump off-line pilots up to 1 hour before show time (so ~2 hours before takeoff). Contract reference is listed as "PBB" which I think might mean pilot benefit book. I would hope this option wouldn't get exercised often but it's definitely a factor if an OL guy is betting the farm on one of our seats.

I always viewed the requirement as "sets minimum standards for themselves and meets them." Let's face it ... does what we do really require a college degree? I think if we're honest the answer is no. You DO NEED good HIGH SCHOOL math and science skills.

Albie, does FedEx care what your degree is in?

For what it's worth, I've flown with more than one LCA that did not have a college degree so it hasn't always been that way.

You no longer need the degree to apply for a professional instructor job. You could do that for 3 years while you got your degree, then apply to go to the line.

Not to speak for Albie, but ...

I attended a presentation given by the shrink who designed the screening criteria. While he didn't give specific scores to specific criteria, he did say that the type of degree, the level of the institution, and the time required to complete are all considered. And he seemed to indicate that most difficult, most prestigious, and shortest time doesn't equate to the highest scores. He seems to be looking for something near or just above the "middle" of those criteria.

How is safety department experience for one's airline viewed? Similar to beong a LCA?

As far as college, what would they think of just under 5 years from ERAU while working/flying for the regionals the whole time? 2.7 GPA.

I don't think that anyone on this board can give you a definitive answer, only an opinion.

You have a degree, therefore, you meet the minimum standard.

Apply and see what happens.

Just my opinion - with the number of slots opening up across all airlines - as long as you meet the minimums to get your application accepted, you have as good a shot as anybody else. I was hired after spending 4 years working outside of aviation, but that was a long time ago!

One thing for certain - if you don't apply - you don't have a chance!

Sounds like LCA is the way to go.It covers all that.

Anybody know if going to a job fair helps with FedEx? Who usually represents them at the fairs? Thanks!

Why would anyone speak for Albie, he said he got his. He still has a few friends subtly promoting his business here, say it isn't so?
Albie's credibility is long gone.
