I just thought that internal recommendations meant about zippo nowadays. I sponsored someone years ago, he still hasn't gotten a call, and I don't feel like I can do anything to help him. He is very well qualified. The last I read from management was not to bother them about the people we have sponsored, it now means zero. Is there anything that one can even do to help? Any FedEx pilot want to tell me whom to contact, if there is anyone? I feel pretty helpless in the process here.

Maybe you are the reason for no call! 😜 Just kidding.

Someone posted that the recommendation only comes into play after the applicant has met the standards for and passed the interview. Possible that your friend has something in their profile that is preventing the call.

I worry about someone's chance of getting hired when they haven't even read/understood just a few posts above theirs--and it answers their question fully with the most recent information.

I've heard that recs don't mean very much unless you've actually flown with the guy..

Hey! I am very conscientious, rarely complain (except on APC:)) and am definitely not a troublemaker. I don't think my recommendation will hurt, as almost everyone I have recommended (hadn't flown with most) has gotten a call. However, that was many years ago, and I know they don't put much stock in recommendations any more. My other friends got calls very quickly. Maybe there is something in his profile that isn't what they're looking for, but I believe he is well qualified and the company would be lucky to have him.

I had heard that way back when also, however, it didn't seem to stop my other friends from getting a call. But they were all military, which might have had an impact.

Quick question about Fedex jumpseating luggage policy:

"Carry-on luggage will be limited to what may be carried by the OJS in one trip up a crew boarding stairs. No TSA prohibited items are allowed."

Can one have a 22" roll aboard bag in one hand, and a regular sized 50 lb bag (checked bag for pax carrier) in the other hand and make one trip upstairs? As Fedex pilots, do you know if this is allowed? Looking at jumpseating Fedex but with an equivalent of a checked bag and a pilot carry on bag. Thoughts / policy?

Thanks!

Can you carry them up the crew stairs? Might be a little heavy, but possible. Guessing that would be fine. Can't imagine anyone looking closely at the size of your bags, just security will check well to make sure there is nothing dangerous. As a crewmember, I can't imagine giving a crap if another crewmember needs to make two trips up the stairs, and if I only have one bag, I'll probably help.

Then again, I can't speak for the jumpseat folk. I doubt they are that concerned about size, just security.

I know more than one MEC chair, contract rep, LEC rep, whatever that got hired if that's what you're asking.

Not being a FedEx pilot, how would you know?
