Every check ride, phase check, line check, written matters. The less on your PRIA the better.

I was reading an old FedEx thread from 2006 about getting hired and have a question. Someone commented that if you work as a package handler for a year and meet the minimum requirements (bachelors, 1500 turbine, etc), you are basically guaranteed an interview. Is this still the case?

No

Prior employment at FedEx does not guarantee an Interview.

It may help come interview time though.

There is a path to an interview if you go the instructor route and put in a 2 year commitment.

In the mid 90s, if one was a current employee, he could bid internally if a pilot job posting came up. I worked at a hub back then, but I was nowhere near the minimums; though, I do know of one furloughed guy who worked at that sort hub and subsequently moved on to a pilot position.

Again, this is the mid 90s. Maybe the same concept applies today?

Neither does current employment as a VP, or so I hear

IDK, I heard rumor that Tim Leonard is going to be on the Pilot Seniority List soon.

I work for FedEx, but I’m not a pilot. Per the Tuition Assistance Program pertaining to elegance flight training, “FedEx promotes from within whenever possible.” I know that’s vague and doesn’t answer your question, but I was wondering the same thing as well.

It’s a lot more difficult than it once was. You have to maintain currency at 100hrs/yr in a <12.5 aircraft now. These requirements change fairly frequently though
