Zero....not joking. More candidates without recommendations are being interviewed than those with them. Upwards of a 4-1 ratio some in the know say.

Pretty sure the whole LOR thing went away when the PE program came out...

First off, as has been pointed out, you can only have a PE. LOR’s no longer exist under the new system. And having a PE is a distinct benefit, not a liability, to your application. To leverage it properly however your Endorser must actively engage with their Fleet Captain to advocate for you. There were apparently growing pains which earlier on resulted in the PE not being the enhancement it was meant to be but those seem to have been fixed.

Does anyone know if one someone who wrote a PE for someone can delete that endorsement if that someone doesn’t interview with FedEx but got hired somewhere else? I know if someone interviews with Fedex and gets rejected it counts but what if they never interviewed?

Be interesting to see the ratio of PE calls to non PE calls for 2018. In 2017 it was skewed away from PE folks.

This is interesting, I was wondering if I needed to ask a few people for FedEx letters of recommendation, but it appears not. Pilot Credentials doesn't even have a section for it, and they specifically tell you not to upload any to their system.

What is the general sense among pilots at FedEx about this? Good or bad, doesn't matter? Maybe it will level the field a bit for guys without a heavy hitter recommendation?

Letter of Recs do you no good. PEs probably help out after the computer spits out your application. I doubt the HR portion of the process gives a rats ass about PEs and I know they don’t care about LORs. But if your Boy Scout troop leader is a manager at the FDX hub in Newark, by all means submit it (if you can find a way). It may help give you confidence during the interview.

I misspoke in my post. Replace LOR with PE and I stand by what I say. As Albie said above, it’d be interesting to see the actual numbers and not have to rely on word of mouth from a fleet captain, actual interview panel members, etc.

Do you have any advice or guidance from the fleet capts on how this advocacy works? I'm assuming this is to be done ahead of the quarterly meeting where only 10 PEs are selected out of the pile for interviews by the panel of fleet capts etc. Have those dates been announced so individuals can time accordingly? Thanks.

My understanding is once a PE is put in the system .. that's it. You are done. Kinda like trying to put a bullet back in the gun, doesn't work that way... Please correct me if I'm wrong, my guy got hired by Delta, but I have another guy I would be happy to endorse..
