All sound advice that hopefully you don't find surprising if you made it this far. Albie won't blow his own horn but he did a 20 phone follow up the night before with me from my hotel room. It was perfect run through for the q&a and I went in feeling as relaxed as possible. His company was money well spent, find some prep and pay for it.

RegionalFO, no not looking for pilots with solely 75/76 time.

I will second PB's comment above and will add that Albie also has several other guys that are top notch and can prep you for not only Fedex but any of the major/legacies..... With the removal of the Sim requirement at Fedex, the intangibles that Emerald helps to polish have become even more important.

I have a few questions for the HKG guys:

Is it possible to commute from another Asian city? (i.e. HCMC) I'm single with no dependents.

How many reserve days per month, what is the call-out and how long till a new hire can hold a line?

Is it possible to drop below guarantee (as a line holder or reserve)? Does it affect the $4,500 override?

What are the trips like? Mostly night flying? Where are the overnights? Credit per day?

Thanks!

If you live in HCMC, you can't legally get the $5000 housing allowance. If you live in HKG and make it your home, you can get the allowance. You also can spend your days off where you like...But you need to have your home in HKG...since your single, that changes the equation greatly. Tread with care on that as it has been the subject of several firings...

You will be on reserve or custom lines, night flying and bottom of the barrel for choices.

With that said, all our flying is basically the same, not too much pain, and as we say here, a Good line in the states is much worse than a bad line in Asia.

Going below min guar. is possible, if -1- they let you drop the Rdays, and -2- you can have someone else pick up your trip or Rdays for you.

15 rdays 4 week month. 19 Rdays on a 5 week month. 3 hour call out. Since I've been here, nothing less than a 1 day call out. YMMV.

Is there still not an official posting online about the window being open?

Default Hiring from a feeder

Hey guys there's a rumor that fedex will not hire a pilot from one of its feeder companies. Is there any truth to this?

I've never heard that but now that you mention it ... I don't ever recall flying with a former feeder pilot?

No, it isn't true. I'm a former Caravan guy, and I've met others that flew feeders as well. That being said, Caravan time isn't going to get you hired here.
