Default This was Simple Jack's post....yes, I copied

This has been bothering me for 5 years now. I promised my FO I would find out. Not for my own benefit, but for the crew force. And maybe to imagine a few people squirming in their seat.

1-There is no wolf pack. If there is, these are not the folks you are angry with. They have no priority with open time no more than you.

2-The couple of folks who are getting the trips are lone wolves, operating by themselves for their own good. They stumbled into this years ago and chose to keep it quiet.

3-You have to establish a PMU bank via OTP with sufficient amount to cover the desired footprint of a General Trip.

4-You don't wait for a trip to open up via autopoll, nor do you scan open time all day. That won't help you at all.

3-When most people are waiting for open time and checking out the gravy trips and oh so wanting a Double Dead Head to anywhere and bulk up your frequent flyer miles, the lone wolf sits at home and waits till the clock strikes the exact moment open time is released. Probably chuckling because we have tried to solve this for years.

4-He then submits via the makeup system for each and every day of the month a general priority makeup request with the restrictions as follows: Intl only, double dead head, 5 day minimum...Enter. That’s it for his open time scanning for the entire month!!!!

5-And now the great part. CRS does not know, Charter folks don't know, I really don't think anyone with any leverage knows this. But there is an automated system used (not mentioning it by name) to rack and stack the open time and priority assignments. Thats right, the "automated" system tags the trips to the wolf with the OTP capability and that trip becomes......fz-frozen, until he or she can make it to a computer after they land or get home from soccer practice. If he/she wants it, he executes the make up, the trip goes into open time but with an earlier time stamp just nano seconds he hits enter...the trip is his.
6-Now in addition to this trip he has just picked up, he still has 29 more PMU requests in the system. Now when a new trip pops up, just like one just did. It is frozen. Guess why. Its tagged to him, so if he wants it, he gets it if not, he declines it and we get the leftovers. So now you know why most trips that hit open time are frozen, now you know how compete. And also, if you don't believe me. Even if you have no OTP, submit a general OTP with any parameters and you will see 3 pilots requesting makeup (pmu) for the entire month.

7-To recycle OTP is quite simple once you get into the Chtr business, there are many triggers the make one eligible for OTP, and then you are reset for 2 more months.

8-So I did not do this for myself, I did it for my fellow crew members who every now and then wouldn't mind a nice charter.

I have 0 hours In my OTP bank. The only way you get OTP is if you are eligible for SUB. Correct?

Oh yeah, I'm with Tripod. Do it, Clutch, do it!

Oh well. Disregard. I just read you had zero hours. Yes, you need to decline sub to get it. Plus, you have to decline it at just the right time, or you are SOL. They do not make it easy and you have to read the fine print.

Holy _ _ _ _!!!!!! I should have been something other than a pilot--clearly I'm not smart enough. Good work and I nominate Simple Jack as dude or dudette of the year.

Avalanche, I hope you do not get hired at FedEx, we have plenty of one way independent contractors already, I bet if we were not a closed shop you would save a buck off your fellow pilots back too.

To test the General Make-up system, I put in 5 straight days of make-up but at PMU(OTP bank). The catch is that I have no PMU, only general make-up. I want to see if they (WP) figured out how to by pass the 2 month PMU window. If I am successful in getting any trips, I will notify you all as well as the MD-11 ACP. As a side note, when I selected PMU, there was no warning that I had no PMU bank.

I did the exact same thing earlier today - no warning on the lack of PMU bank. I too will post if "successful" with a pickup.
