They took the average pay rate of all of the SOs, FOs, and Captains and used that as the way to gauge the percentage. So since most of the SOs and FOs were junior, all of the money went to the captains. Bottom line I was a 5 years SO and I got about 8k, FOs I was senior to got about 16K, and Captains got about 32k. So even though my hourly rate was 80% of same seniority FOs I got a bonus of about 50% of theirs. My memory is probably off but I doubt by much.
Look for similar shenanigans. Or talk to your seniority demographic representative.

How ALPA gamed it in 2006 was something like this:

I have heard that the Lump Sum payment will be according to what seat you were in on the date of the TA. So if you change seats between the TA and the signing date, you get the lower paying seat. I thought last time it was date it was ratified. So it seems like the timeframe for the signing bonus ends mid August but the new pay rates don't begin until November. Has anyone heard anything different? Does anyone remember how it was in 2006?

Look at the Lump Sum Payment Distribution (2015) section near the end of the TA. Your answer is written in plain English:
"Each pilot's lump sum payment category shall be determined by the highest crew status in which he was active during the amendable period. Pilots who received passover pay during the amendable period will receive a lump sum payment based on their highest active crew status or the crew status to which they received passover pay."

I am amazed how well the company patched their senior manning concerns with the announced retirement bonus and sick leave buyback. The sick leave buyback keeps you working hard for 2 years to overcome the -$520,000 and maximize your DSA. The planned retirement bonus will keep many through this peak and anyone considering retiring next year to wait until after next peak. I'd expect no significant retirement numbers until Dec 2016. I know it is being discussed as a win in the TA Q&A and videos but I'd bet the company proposed it and is quite satisfied.

Oh, oh, Shenanigans are lose. Just read the contract and vote, its that simple. No comments on here are going to sway anyone one way or the other. If you don't like this contact, vote no. If people haven't learned, its business. Its no harm or threat to the company if you vote this down. The process resumes and it will be finalized at some point. Don't let emotions sway the way you should really vote. Read the contract and make an informed judgment and then move on. If this contract passes, take the good and enjoy your life. But I seriously doubt that life is going to change much if this TA passes. Your dream career won't become a nightmare, I doubt you'll even notice much changes. And I am not endorsing the contract one way or another.
