Former regional and then ULCC. This is the best job I’ve ever had. It’s not for everyone, but it is for me. I love absolutely everything about it.

I was on my company paid ticket home (no stress). Mainline flight from LA to ATL. Every 20-30 minutes, we’d hit a pocket of light chop and the captain would turn the seatbelt sign on and make the obligatory PA.

But he sounded so monotone and absolutely done with everything. Like….. I felt bad for him. But it also removed ANY doubt in my mind of wanting to go anywhere else. I’ll take wiping down the tray tables but flying into ASE or TEX over doing an ILS after ILS after ILS to the same six airports.

YMMV, but this is the best thing to ever happen to me.

Not quite a regionals question here but how many Flexjet guys end up going onto the Legacies successfully? Thinking of flying with Flex for a little while instead of the regionals. Debating whether 121 time at a regional would be more valuable than 135 (potentially more PIC since upgrade is so quick now) time in this market. I already have a little 135 PIC and a good chunk of turbine, just have to get my CTP/Written out of the way.

I'd say if you want to go to a major, stay at the 121 - not that you can't go to a legacy from FJ (people do), but the legacies will see you "like and can handle" the 121. Bouncing fro 121 to frac then trying to go back to 121 could be a flag. Also, I'd say that just keeping up with the different type of pace in the 121 is important / different than the pace and soft skills in 135 and fractional.

Cool. No 121 experience yet but was wondering if it would be best to go 135 > 91K > Major 121 or 135 > 121 Regional > Major 121. QOL/Pay are huge determinations in this. Seems to me like the pay at regionals now is a little less than Flexjet levels up front but matching after 1-3 years, but training and commuting/reserve/basing are obviously subpar compared to any Fractional. Considering I'm already planning on spending 1-3yrs somewhere before going to a major just looking to see if Flex to a major is reasonable just like going Regional to Major.

Everyone leaving Flex is going 121. You have your paces mixed up (anyone can look up your prior post on your experience) Did 121 RJ flying for almost 15 years. It’s beyond vanilla pudding comparing hub n spoke 121 to 91/91k/135 flying. 121 50% of your flights you are cradled all the way in by ATC. The other 40% you’re going into C/D airspace. Flying fractionally or for any big 135 operation almost half you flights end in canceling IFR on your own.

You are a troll!

Lot of lower time guys jumping ship or is it longer term pilots getting curious about "the other side?"

Mostly from the bottom of the list. In the most recent bid DRL Legacy CA went at 2 years 9 months. If you hustle and make all your bonuses you can bring in close to 200k.
