There are plenty of landmarks. In fact, Flight Safety Academy in Vero Beach uses a named grid system. I asked our chief pilot a while ago to get a map of their grid names since they use the frequency more than any other school. I'll just call Flight Safety myself in the morning and have them fax it to us.
Stay safe guys.

I would call them and ask them for a copy of their map. Then I would run it through my chain to *inform* them that I was going to start preaching this to my [your] students. Then, when in the area, if I heard another aircraft check on freq I would contact them and ask them where they were planning on working and/or tell them where I was working. If nothing else - over time it may just become standard practice because everyone is doing it.

Terrible. RIP.
This practice area is close to ours. I am always on the practice area frequency and swinging my head around. Some students that switched to me from other instructors said that I am one of the few that uses the frequency. If you fly in the area between Sebastian and Stuart, please call out intentions on 123.3
Keep your heads outside and fly safe.

I always hate flying through that area in my Cirrus. I'm on IFR flight plans, but ATC always vectors me down low and through the practice areas for the approach into the airports on the coast. My TCAS is always going crazy, and freaks my pax out.

It is the same pilot. My roommate who is a Chautauqua pilot was friends with him and instructed with the guy. It's a real shame. Be careful out there.
