Mes + Mei

I was referring to my own statements, calm yourself.
Yeah, after I looked at my certificate and the PTS, I tend to agree with you. However, the regs say 15 hrs in category and class. I guess the class is just AME, not AMEL or AMES. It may still be something to look into and ask the FSDO before the OP dishes out the $$$.

Hey, just one thing to think about. You need 15 hrs of PIC in category and class to get your MEI...you're not going to be able to log PIC until you're rated.
I'd have to revisit the regs on that, but it may be a hurdle to think about.
^without review, I don't feel completely confident in the above statements^

correct me if i'm wrong but your right. you need 15hrs pic in category and class. far 61. 183. if you have that you would just need the three hours from a cfi for the signoff.

They had a ribbon cutting at the tower, but it isn't operational yet...no clue when it will be.

And I think that his MEI would just be to proficiency so it wouldn't require 3 hours.

I got mine with Chester, he's a good guy. $400/hr when I got it, I was the last one to get that price.
<----- That's actually his airplane that I use in my avatar, during one of the days I was training
I was always under the impression that "Airplane" was the category and "Multi-Engine Land" and "Multi-Engine Sea" were classes. I wouldn't feel comfortable flying in a 172 on floats with somebody after they did three landings in a wheeled 172 for currency...
EDIT: A quick look at the FARs answers this question:
FAR 1.1:
Class:
(1) As used with respect to the certification, ratings, privileges, and limitations of airmen, means a classification of aircraft within a category having similar operating characteristics. Examples include: single engine; multiengine; land; water; gyroplane; helicopter; airship; and free balloon; and
(2) As used with respect to the certification of aircraft, means a broad grouping of aircraft having similar characteristics of propulsion, flight, or landing. Examples include: airplane; rotorcraft; glider; balloon; landplane; and seaplane.
